I pulled out these figures that have been packed over 25 year! They are from a diorama of the raid on Sandy Bay (Rockport, Mass) in 1814 I literally lived over the site of the Fort on Bearskin Neck as it was filled in and over when the harbor breakwater was built. The diorama was damaged during the Blizzard of 1978 when the building it was in was smashed by waves.

Some quick photos with some scenery

Most of the navy figures are from the old Cliff Sanderson Press gang series that Monarch Miniatures had.

Scott

A wonderful piece of USN history. I am glad you dug it out of storage.

Randy

Thanks Scott for digging them out and sharing them appreciate the time and effort and what a great job in painting the Monarch figures. I've a number of his Zulu War figures by Cliff, Also got a good hunch were you might have gotten the figures from to paint. Once again thanks for sharing them.

I got them at Excalibur Hobbies before it changed to the Hobby Bunker under "new" management.

Hi Scott

Cheers for posting your photo's for us to take a look at. .I especially like the Seaman grabbing the guy in the green jacket around his neck. Figures and your diorama looks like they were brand new.:)

Best wishes Mark

I got them at Excalibur Hobbies before it changed to the Hobby Bunker under "new" management.

If it's the same tiny shop in Lexington, MA Scott, it's were I got the first of my Cliff Sanderson Zulu War metal figures and the first of my collection of metal figures which I purchased from Matt Murphy's dad Bill being the first of my Zulu War figures.

Very nice Scott, good job on the set up.

Rod.

Eventually they'll go on a permanent display under "glass." It will be the moment the raiders burst into the small fort on the end of Bearskin Neck. I don't have a photo of what the diorama originally looked like.

I wanted to do another diorama of the capture of the British on the beach after their launch sunk. A shot from the bow carronade opened up the planks of thir own launch...sinking themselves. Nobody was hurt.

Was it the late Jim Parsella? He opened another shop...Falcon Miniatures or something like that.

That was before I knew Bill Murphy. He aquired Excalibur and changed it to The Hobby Bunker and the rest is history. I did a couple of miniatures shows for Bill Murphy in the 70s.
I also did some masters for Parsella's miniature business. It didn't go very far.
