Can anyone advise what are the regiments that would appear at ceremonial functions (with respect to the Royal Family)

I know of these

Horseguards
Lifeguards
Scots guards
Welsh guards
Grenadier guards
Irish guards
Coldstream guards
King's Troop RHA

What are the current Lancers and Hussars and any other regiments. Also can someone clear up the Scots Grey/ Scots Dragoon guards/ Scots guard are they all amalgamated now ???

Thanks

Scott

In several ceremonial displays produced by Britains, I have also seen the Royal Marines and their band.

Scott,

On the last part of the question -The Scots Greys are the 2nd Dragoons and the only Scots cavalry regiment. the Scots Guards are an infantry regiment and one of the household regimetns. No they have not been amalgamated

On the first part the 2 horseguard regiments are 1. the Blues and Royals and 2. the Lifeguards

Keeping track of British regiments used to be easier before Regimetns.org disappeared

Hi Britfarmer. The regiments you listed are what used to be termed the Household Division, and as such are mainly present on State and ceremonial occassions with members of the Royal Family. However other troops can be honoured by the presence of Royalty as when colours are presented, or by forming local guards of Honour.
With reference to the present state of the British army we have the following:-

The Light Dragoons (formed 1992 by amalgamation of 15th/19th and 13th/18th hussars)
The Royal Dragoon Guards (formed 1992 from 4th/7th DG and 5th Inniskilling DG)
The Queen's Royal Lancers (formed 1992 from 16th/5th Lancers and 17th/21st)
The King's Royal Hussars (formed 1992 from Royal Hussars and 14th/20th Hussars)
The Queen's Royal Hussars (formed 1993 from Queen's Own Hussars and Queen's Royal
Irish Hussars)
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (formed 1971 from Scots Greys and 3rd Carabiniers)
The 9th/12th Royal Lancers (formed 1960 from 9th and 12th Lancers)

I have only covered the cavalry regiments as that seemed to be your main area of interest. The infantry gets even more complicated.

Alan

Back again, just realised I omitted a regiment,
1st Queen's Dragoon Guards (formed 1959 from 1st KDG and 2nd DG (Queen's Bays)
Sorry about that.

Thanks Gents for your help.

Now I know what sets to look for/have made for my ceremonial collection. :D
