Hi Friends,
I have ordered the WWI French machine gun team and it arrived broken. I let the vender know and he promptly ordered me another set and it arrived broken also. The first set the machine gun barrel was broken off and the bipod was broken also and the second figure the rifle broken ant the shoulder strap was broken. The second set arrived with the bipod broken and the 2nd figure figure rifle broken and shoulder strap was broken.
The shipping boxes showed no signs of damage. The figures were to tightly packed with the foam. The vender refunded me the money and I asked him if he wanted them back and I have heard that he wants them back.I find it absurd that figures costing over $100.00 should have to be repaired when they arrive to the customer. Where can I find intact 1/30 scale rifle straps to attempt to repair the one figure. The First Legion Figures are absolutely beautiful but I will NEVER order any of them ever again because I really can not repair them and SHOULD NOT have to. This is very poor QC.

I do understand your frustration. I can get so excited about opening new figures of any manufacturer, but especially FL which is still my manufacturer of choice.

I have now purchased hundreds of their figures with very few problems and have always found Matt and his dealers resolve issues quickly. I also have found the QC to be very high.

Questions about how tight he packs the figures have been debated and whether it helps or hurts without resolution.

It does sound like there is an issue with that particular set though. Every manufacturer ends up having a few problem pieces, I find.

I hope you explore something different. I love FL quality and details.

Again, I am sorry you had this negative experience.

Thanks for your input, I see that their figures are quite impressive. I was looking at their King Tiger and all the different German tank riders. Those figures are so life like. Again if those arrived broken it would make me sick. The French figures that I had the issues with, the rifle and light machine gun are very fragile. They are packed very snug in the foam. Vibration will take its toll on fragile parts.

I buy FL exclusively, I just like the quality (personal preference not trying to say that other manufactures are not good).
On occasion a broken figure arrives in the mail, always disappointing. It seems that the figures are broken prior to shipping (during packaging perhaps).
Also some poses are notorious for having almost 100% breakage. Having said all this, Matt and FL offer great customer service and will replace a broken figure.
I remember a time when Matt sent me three of the same figure in order for me to have one that was not broken...now that is what I call going above and beyond to satisfy a customer!

These are very delicate figures and I do believe that people who package the figures are very careful in doing so. I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve had only one or two breaks over the years. I’ve also sold a bunch lately and I’m careful — extra careful — in making sure they are packed well. Nothing worse than opening a box and seeing a broken figure.

Figarti =First Legion on quality control(albeit at a fraction of the cost).Fixing, rebending, repainting are stables for these two brands.
(Nowadays ,only one left to vilify).

I can only speak for myself, I have bought hundreds and hundreds of First Legion figures dating back well over 10 years to their first release.

Having received several damaged figures over the years I can honestly say that I have never been stuck with one or the cost of sending one back. I really don't think as collectors we could ask for anything more then that from any manufacture.

I would also add my name to the list of members who say be very careful when taking newly arrived figures out of the packing, they are packed very securely to be sure.

I know how to be careful removing the figures! The figures were packed so tight that the fragile parts were already broken off when they arrived. 2 sets both were broken the machine guns, rifles and rifle straps pieces all either imbedded in the tight foam packing or laying loose in the box upon opening when they arrived. The same pieces broken in 2 sets really makes me sick. I am glad others have not had issues with their figures being broken from FL but I will not buy any more. Thanks for your input.

I know the pain. I bought 3 mounted Samurai figures directly from FL ( took advantage of the big sale), and all 3 came in with broken horse reins, spotty paint flaking in few places. Since they were on sale I tried to fix the issues myself . Now I would only buy from local store where I can visually inspect them first before purchasing.

I have a theory on the figures that suffer damage. It is only my personal theory, from observation of figures I have ordered from First Legion directly.
I believe that they are older figures, released many years ago.
The delicate metal parts become somewhat brittle over time and are more susceptible to being damaged in transit.
I have never received a newer release with any damage.

I don’t think that’s true. Regardless of when made, they are, simply, delicate figures.
