I just finished watching "Brothers in Arms: the 502nd in Carentan", and I am not ashamed at all to say that I have tears in my eyes. The actions of Lt.Colonel Cole, who won the Medal of Honor (and was later killed during Market Garden) and the 502nd in the taking and defense of Carentan were among the most heroic actions I have ever heard described, and the program, which involved survivor's commentary, footage, and computer animated reinactment, was excellent. One of the survivors providing commentary was Don Burgett, who wrote four excellent books about his experiences as a Screaming Eagle in WWII. I couldn't recommend this program more highly.

I've seen that and it's quite good. The animation is based on the Brothers in Arms video game, which is quite fun to play. It's unfortunately only on Xbox and not on Xbox 360.

You can also get it in PC version. Which leads me to my next comment. I have been looking all over the internet for some WW2 buildings but can't find any good ones. I was playing Brothers in Arms and there are tons of buildings there to get ideas on some new foam buildings. I just play on easy mode and walk around and do screen prints of the buildings and try to recreate them or get ideas to create a new building.

Louis, I just watched the same show. Watching the History Channel on a Friday afternoon, we gota get a job eh:p

Alex, George at Minute Man has some of the better buildings. He can do a very good customizing job as well.:)

What about Nick making them for you?

I work from home, and had it on in the background (I love my job!).

My wife's father with the 502nd Easy Co. from D-Day to the end of WWII. There is a picture of him standing alone in the center of Carenten. This picture has been in published many time with no ID given. Easy Co. did not make the initial push over the bridge at Carenten.
His DD214 says he was awarded 3 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts + others. He pasted away several years ago. He would never talk much about the war, but he would question me to no end. After he pasted, I researched his record and was amazed to find out what great trooper he was. During the Battle of The Bulge 502nd was holding the line between Champs & Longchamps He and a another soldier (unknown) knocked two Panzers at Champs that were trying to over run the US line.

Chuck,

Your father in law was among the bravest of the brave (as, I suspect, was his son in law). I will remember you both with pride as an American this Veterans' Day.

Alex, I have the playstation two, I play those BIA games, just to look at some of the buildings to get ideas. I'm working on some two and three story buildings right now, I hope to get them Form Teched in the future. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. I know you and Nick are quite talented with the foam, and can make nice buildings. That is how I get my ideas also. They claim some of the lay outs in the videos are accurate, taken from recon fly over photos. Mike:)

I have a question. When you said Brothers in Arms: the 502nd in Carentan, did you mean the series Band of Brothers 101 airborne division in outskirts of Caretan?

No, this is the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st. The Band of Brothers was the 506th. Colonel Cole was the head of the Third Battalion.

Thanks Brad for information.

Cheers:)
