Does anyone know where you can buy the damaged factory in the UK ? I’ve sent a couple of emails to UK dealers but had no reply’s !!?
Thank in advance

I had a talk with Ken Osen at last London December show and he told me, that he was still searching for a dealer in the UK/Europe regarding Hudson/Allen.
as a German dealer, I can only tell you, that to import buidlings and vehicles is so expensive now (customs extra duty, shipping costs regarding the space of the big boxes...) , that it makes no more sense.
Same for K&C vehicles&buildings btw (at least here in Germany - FEDEX costs me more than 35% for shipping !!!)

Thank for taking the time to replying to my post . Look like the only option is to buy it from the USA then {sm2}

I think so, I just checked and could still find no European dealer for H&A...
are you attending the Britains club event on this Thursday or the London show this Friday ? May be Ken will attend as well and you can ask him directly...or you come to my table and buy some beautiful new Indians made by team miniatures as an alternative :p:smile2:^&grin

...sorry, the Show is on the Saturday, on the Friday only the tables will be prepared and arranged...

depending on work should be going to the show Saturday with my boy for the first time , Can I asked what the name of your Toy company?

I am not sure it helps but as an FYI the box that it comes in is huge, thus the dimensions might make international shipping even more expensive.

However, it is a great piece and in my opinion worth the cost, including shipping.

Another idea would be to spend a vacation in the us, visit Ken & Ericka and bring a damaged factory home as a souvenir. Might make a better one than a painted shell or a mini model of the Statue of Liberty or the Golden Bridge.

Agreed, except for the part about the Golden Gate Bridge.......

The Hudson & Allen pieces Are very nice. I have all the buildings that are not damaged. Nice pieces to display with bands and civilians.

As with the current production of Britain’s I do not believe they have large inventory stock. The last one I got was completed by Ken the day before.

While the pieces do not weight a lot, the boxes do take up a lot of room.

You might check with Matt at Hobby Bunker and purchase them in bulk with one shipping cost. I think that any retailers would be faced with the same issues.

I've check checked out W Britain Facebook page and he bringing the new building to the London show ^&cool

Perhaps you should email him and ask him to reserve the piece for you,

Steve

Highly recommended to reserve, I generally do that when my brother or I go to a show.

I feel your pain; shipping is and continues to go up in cost, costs that as dealers we have to incur in order to get the goods to us.

USPS is raising their rates next year, not to mention UPS and FED EX are already off the charts with their costs.

Even with a direct account established for the companies to bill the shipping to, it's a major expense that eats into the profits.

Not much you can do about it, but it is painful to see every year when I do my taxes and see how much money is left on the table due to shipping costs.

Shipping is becoming the major issue for small business and the customer. Costs keep going up and gauaretee of safe delivery non existent.

Sent a package across Canada via UPS after, figures in foam cut and solid box. Then wrapped in bubble and placed in a second bigger box.

Package arrived two weeks late and several figures damaged. I even had notes and stickers indicating fragile and this side up. UPS response was have the package sent back, bring it to the store, and they will ship it to the local head office for examination. Don’t expect a response for several months.
The only two people that handle the box are the receiver and the delivery guy. The rest is performed by electronic handeling, just flip the box till it recognizes the shipping label. Electronics can not read anything else, and don’t care.

If I did as they wanted the costs would exceed the value of the product, with no guarantee of compensation. Plus as a small business the employee said it was not probably packed right.

When I look at the packaging that goes into a single figure from the big manufacturers the only way for them to make a profit is to have a substantial run and ship in quantity. That requires the retailer to carry inventory or wait till he can built an order up. Both have their drawbacks.

While the cost of going to a show or dealer can be expensive, think it as a vacation well needed.

Happy toy soldiering

Sorry for your hassle.

That's part of the reason why three years ago I stopped using UPS. Too many issues with damaged items, USPS has been much, much better for me, not to mention in the rare cases where items arrive damaged, they pay the claims right away, no hassle, no nonsense.

No thanks to UPS.

Spoke with WB today at the London show and I’m going to order it direct from them
