Neat Wayne - nice detail on the figure and good photo - 8:20a.m. on his watch...and no shadows from the African sun{sm2}...ah, yes! It's because he's a cool dude :wink2:{sm4}. Capital effort of technique - so much of interest for just one figure; now that is economy of scale.

You must be an economist or are you just given to financial metaphors?

Bob, I would never have thought of the shadow, now I will ...bugger...{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}
Wayne.

Political economy was my chosen area for PhD research but it was the three willies dio that tickled my fancy and started the string of comments - It'll pass; fear not.{eek3}{sm2}

The semi colon - impressive. I wrote a whole Phd without resorting to the semi colon. Commit to the sentence or start a new one.

In the field of Pol Economy, semi-colons abound; you only find complete colons in the field of Economics proper - they're called Economists and most ought to be committed...{sm4}

Wayne, you hang around these blokes, can you please explain what they are talking about....^&confuse^&grin

Nice pic's by the way.

I was going to ask you the same question then realised you would have no more idea than me , it's even more incomprehensible when Larso gets involved.....{sm2}{sm3}{sm4}

Fitzgibbon's (Bob's) humour is about clever word play. Look at the way he has used colon to mock economists. He is easy to follow once you know what to look for! Larso's humour is even easier. It generally is far broader - much like Larso himself.

Now you will have to explain to Tom & I what a colon has to do with economists..... I already know that economists mostly don't make any sense, but colons?????.........:confused:{eek3}
Wayne.

The colon is the last part of the digestive system in most vertebrates; it extracts water and salt from solid wastes before they are eliminated from the body...

Does that help?

By the subject matter of the this thread I gather school holidays have started in Queensland?

Getting back to Clive Caldwell, I can still remember meeting him in the early eighties in Sydney when he gave a talk to a plastic modelling club a mate and I were in at the time. We were only boys but my mates Dad took us to the meeting and I'm pretty sure he met one of his heroes that day.

From memory Bobby Gibbes gave a talk at a later date. Those old boys are leaving us very quickly.

The modellers club used to meet in the QVB, before the restoration, just underneath where Peter Nathan's shop is today.

Trying to avoid semicolons!

Scott
