Speaking with David Cowe last night, he mentioned that one of the few records that he still had regarding production numbers concerned the number of Cameron Heirloom series sets produced.
The reason he kept track of this is that each set (HS1 & HS2) were numbered on a label attached to the inside of the box.
Imperial produced exactly 405 Cameron Highlander HS1 sets, finishing the last one in July, 2005.
Imperial produced exactly 268 Cameron Highlander HS2 sets, finishing the last one in April, 2005.
Another interesting HS factoid is that the beautiful wood boxes that these sets came in were made of a native New Zealand hard wood called Rimu wood. The majority of the boxes were handmade by the Cowes with Rimu wood. Toward the end, however, Imperial switched to staining pine to simulate the Rimu.
For those of you lucky enough to have one or more of these Cameron sets, go and check out the label in the bottom of the box and report back with your numbers.
I think we have HS1 set #110 and HS2 set #31, but I will check again next time I have them out. I will take a few pics of the label also.
Does anyone have a "matched set"? I am told that a few were sold late in the runs.
Cheers,
D
