I have taken time out from my Rorke's Drift project to try to display some of my other models more effectively. These are sets #48004 Pipes and Drums of the 1st Bn Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and set #48006 Colour Party of the 1st Bn Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. I wanted to show them advancing rather than in column of route. My original plan for this display was to place the Colour Party ahead of the band but my shelf just wasn't deep enough to allow me to do that. A very simple display with just the base of a colour to try and match the bases of the figures and a painted background. I used a wide angle lens for the shot. Now I can place the plexiglass front on the display.

I'm currently building an ox cart for my Rorke's Drift diorama but when that's done I will put together a display for my Coldstream Guards bands. I'd like to do a street scene but i don't think that my painting skills are up to it. I'll probably give it a shot anyway.

That would be nice to see, your painting skills wont get better unless you take the plunge & try thats what I did!!! I also like the Coldstream Guards Band they did & would love it if they got around to making some street scene items to go with it maybe some continuations of the Christmas street scene stuff they did a few years back!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have both the set 43104 Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards and set 43105 Bandsmen in Exotic Dress. I expect to integrate the two bands into one display.
Another option that I am considering is to take a picture of some buildings of suitable dignity and vintage, run them through Photoshop and see what I could produce as a backdrop. I know that my Photoshop skills are much higher than my painting skills.;)

That sounds good, i would love to see how some photoshopped building would turn out.
