Camo fatigues on WS** series (1 Viewer)

Looking at all the photos on Bill Sager's site, I wonder if all the different colors and patterns of the Waffen SS: Normandy series figures are authentic. Unlike the tank and vehicle camo, it seems that the soldiers (and tankers) uniforms must be recorded by military standards aur specs. There are also probally several Osprey type color booklets which depict the Waffen SS combat fatigues for all the divisions during WWII.
If K&C has taken some artistic license, that is fine with me becasue the WS** series is very colorful, and the figures make great opponents against the DD** series and RA** series Allies.

Well, I spend all my time studying GI stuff, but you can't help but appreciate some German equipment.

Back when I was doing battle reenactments I became impressed with the multiple colors and patterns of Waffen SS camouflage uniforms. Some of the outfits were reversible, with different colors on each side, so I'll bet K&C has a good idea of what they are representing.

As well as the Osprey references, there is a nice little book, something like "Waffen SS uniforms in Color" (I'm at work and the book is at home), but it has quite a nice selection of the SS uniforms in color.

The Waffen SS actually used many different patterns of camo. They even used Italian camo to produce every uniform part. Tankers also used the Italian camo, the peadot camo, turtleneck sweaters, and even U-boot leathers. As the war progressed the units were issued whatever was around or what they had held onto from the beginning of the war. The Wehrmacht was the exception, they mainly used the splinter pattern and white camo, but some soldiers have been photographed with SS smocks.

I have to admit that the camo on the first glossy Waffen SS figures reminded me of nothing so much as pajamas from the '70's, but I think the matt figures today have very realistic appearing uniforms.
