Hi I found these 2 figures in a box of Britains I purchased and was hoping somebody would know the identity ?
Thanks in advance

And this one ?

This figure of General Wolfe c1759 came as a 'free gift' when you subscribed to Toy Soldier & Model Figure magazine about 10 ?? years ago.

I have one, a casting, which I painted in matte finish, but I think if you subscribed for 2 years, it came painted.

Under the base are the letters 'GB03' & 'TSMF'

I hope that helps,
John

They are all premiums for subscribing to TS&MF, given away at various times over the years. General Wolfe, as Obee notes, Churchill, and the seated figure's name escapes me, but he was an officer in WW I, who wrote poetry. I can't remember but I think he was Canadian. I also know that that figure was issued more than once, because I have two of them.

The figures were all available as unpainted castings, if you subscribed for a single year, and painted, if you took a two-year subscription.

TedToy produced some of the premiums, but I don't remember if any of these were produced by him.

There have been other premiums offered, individual figures from various makers, over the years.

Prost!

I believe it is supposed to be Sassoon from WWI

Thanks, Dave, yes, Siegfried Sassoon!

I haven't gotten around to painting mine yet.

I just checked on my bench. I have 2 Sassoons, 3 Wolfes, 1 Churchill, and 1 Abraham Lincoln. I also have Stonewall Jackson, which I did paint. Sassoon, Lincoln, and Jackson, are all from TedToy.

Prost!

Cool! Do you want to get rid of one of the Sassoon’s let me know.

The First World War medical officer writing on a crate is actually LCol John McCrae, MD. He is well known for being the author of the poem "In Flanders Fields".

Cheers,

Brendan

You made me do what I should have done in the first place, Brendan--go to my archives and look in the back issues! You are correct, it's McCrae.

The current premium figure is Joseph Brant, also made by Ted Deddens. I think my renewal will come up at the right time to get it.

Prost!
Brad
