Capt. Bob Barret U.S.M.C. (ret’d)
Dear Forum Members,
I was saddened to hear of Bob’s passing – he was most definitely one of the hobby’s great characters.
We never met in person but we often talked by telephone and over the years I felt I got to know him pretty well. Both of us being former Marines helped of course but that apart he was a great fund of knowledge to draw upon. Especially on anything related to the U.S.M.C.
From what I heard and from what he told me the last few years have not been easy for him – either financially or physically. However any time I spoke to him he was always cheerful and in good spirits. Although we had ceased doing business with K&C about 18 months ago we would still, from time to time, talk and one thing I’m sure all of us will hope is that his youngest son, Stephen will be well looked after by his elder siblings.
Well Bob has “shipped-out” to the big parade square in the sky to form up with a whole lot of other Marines – I’ll miss him.
