Does anyone know what was meant when Sierra posted the following:

COMPETITION WINNER
PLEASE NOTE
NO ENTRIES FOR THE FOKKER COMPETITION WERE 100% CORRECT
ALL ENTRIES WERE THEREFORE PLACED IN A HAT AND THREE WINNERS WERE DRAWN FROM THE HAT, BY RALF ROTHERMEL ON SATURDAY 30th JULY
THE WINNERS WERE:

GARY AND JULIE JONES
KENNETH HARMON
BOB WEST

THE THREE LUCKY WINNERS WILL BE CONTACTED SHORTLY

MANY THANKS TO ALL THAT ENTERED

See this thread: http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=33

I thought the idea behind the caption contest was to submit something funny, not necessarily historically accurate or "100% correct" as stated above. As one of the winners from the past 2 years, my entries were more on the funny side than being "100% correct".

Short of emailing John himself, who is very busy and may take some time to respond, does anyone know if something changed regarding the rules for the caption contest?

Hi Mark,
There were two competitions. The one Sierra is referring to, was to match pilots with aircraft that they flew. Seemingly nobody matched them so there was no outright winner. I think there were ten to match.
The caption contest is a completely different competition.
Hope this helps.

Pete

Thanks a lot Pete. I thought something did not make sense here and I believe you have cleared it up. I was not aware of the other contest you mentioned. What further confused me is that I haven't heard any news on the caption contest winners, which ended on August 31st and the news posted by Sierra said that winners were drawn on July 30th.

I'm still waiting for my BM-01 through BM-06 sets that I won for being the winner of picking where the ball was on the Indians playing lacrosse...^&grin...well...I heard that was the prize...

Darn it Mike......Something else lost in the postal system!!!

Mike, did you really win the location of the ball contest? I don't recal if there was a winner.

lol

I entered the 2nd one he had a few years ago. The one with the Grenadiers in the block house with all the arrows. I showed it to my wife and she sent in some captions. She was one of the winners. She won USCH-02 I think. Opened it once and then put them back in the box. Poor soldiers, never to be displayed.
