Castle 3 (1 Viewer)

Both look great Tom - you have a talent for it. As a non-sculptor, pardon if this is a daft question.

Could you not make (say) the plasticine Castle in sections ( e.g round tower) and make a mould from Plaster of Paris. Then make another of the gate - and make another mould. Then say make a straight section of walling - and make another mould?

Then you could make up as many sections as you like from your moulds - and even make a complete Castle, without having to sculpt each section over and over again???

Just a thought.

P.S. Still trying to figure out which Welsh castle that is????:D jb

P.S.S. There are sections on making gunpowder on the web - Don't tell the grand-children!

jb....I dont see why you cannot make the castle up via plaster of paris molds.....via the method you describe...I think plaster of paris is brittle...like chalk ?.....to recast in PP I think you would need to make the walls reasonable thick...the best way to find out would be by trail and erro...start with a small section of wall....personally if your going to the trouble of trying that....try casting in resin...I dont have a clue on casting properly so I cant tell you how....but...I did do a small section of wall...made the wall from plasticine....put a boundary around the sides...fill with resin....when .the resin sets just lifted the wall out...I used an instant set resin.....did not stick to plasticine....no release required...dont wet the plasticine..it goes gooely....cornflour or even baby powered could be used as a release ( I think)......you will have to fiddle around to find out.....have a go...you might find it's fun...cheers Tom

I have said it once and will say it again: it is a great loss to the hobby that you are not sculpting for one of the top manufacturers! Your work is really tops. and I would be amazed to see what you could do with standard sculpting materials (and the training to use them properly) if this is what you can do with Sculpy, Plasticine, and sugar.
Bravo!
