I wish FL would create a castle gate section. Has anyone heard anything through the grapevine.
Brian

On the web site it says there are plans to include a gate, but that was along time ago. I spoke to Matt earlier this year and he said he had not forgotten about it and with one of the series he was heading with, would lend itself to this castle and would therefore encourage him to revisit the gate issue. So I am still hopeful. Only last week I sent him an email asking for a return corner so that the castle could be 3d and again mentioned the need for a gate. Have a feeling he may have missed seeing my email though, so hopefully he sees this thread. Robin.

This Schleich castle gate has been my fill in while waiting. Robin.

Hopefully, Matt heard you and he will make a strong fortified gate. Brian

They look to me like K&C figures from their Like & Musket line.

Right I never collected any K&C but just ordered a few pikemen to check them out, I think they look the same as Swedish invading Poland in 1655.

I think that would work

Interesting I bought a book recently, which I thought was about the English Civil War 1642-1651 judging by all the photos, but it turned out to be just the 30 year war 1618-1658, which spans the same time, but across the channel. Could not get over how everything was so similar, uniforms/weapons etc, only the flags might be a give away, but I am guessing not many people would know the difference. Really like the colour of these armies and make for a wonderful display. Some of the FL buildings suit this period also. The ECW is fast becoming my biggest collection and my substitute for missing out on Napoleonic's, way too daunting. To see more scroll down to my diorama thread 'time on my hands at last'. Robin.

The K/C Pikemen do look very good....Kudos K/C....I have been considering some of them as well.

What are the castle wall sections made out of?

They are solid and heavy, very nice. Matt has confirmed with me that there will be a gate and to check with him later in the year for an update. Robin.

Any word on any new sections to the castle? Just bumping this thread.

Spoke with Matt a few months ago trying to rev up enthusiasm for the gate and possible return section for the wall, he has gone cold on the matter and said FL is primarily a toy soldier producer and not a dio maker. I felt it would sell well for FL, especially after some feedback from the forum members, but I have now given up, no point in pushing a dead horse. Never understood how they could make such great walls and towers and not consider a gateway, fairly obvious. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Robin.

Actually, despite having gone cold on it (that is true) we have designed a new gate section and will also re-produce the straight wall section which has pretty much sold out. This process will take some time, but we hope to have them ready early in 2017.

Best,

Matt

I thought I remembered you saying this, but could not find a reference.

This is great news. Those real life shots have really got the walls itch going for me.

The FL Castle wall sections and towers are excellent and they may be size compatable with the the equally excellent Barzo Nottingham Castle; which also is comprised of sections. The Gate section with drawbridge is very nice as is the tall keep; both can be purchased individually.

I have used the Exin Castilio building block sets to construct many 1/32 scale fortifications; rangeing from a Roman City Gate to a 48 inch tall Norman Keep. The Exin blocks may also be compatible with the FL Castle walls and the drawbridge that comes with the sets make great fortified gates. The Exin sets are often available on Ebay.

Elastolin Seige Towers, Battering Rams, Catapults, Ballista, Trebuchets and early artillery with brass barrels are available in 70 mm; but will work well with 54 mm or 60 mm figures. The Elastolin Seige Engines are historicaly accurate and are of excellent quality. KLM Royal Dutch Airways used to display a large Medieval beseiged town in their window on 5th Avenue in New York at Christmas in the early 1970's utilizing the Elastolin 70 mm figures and Seige Engines, very impressive professional dioramas.

Agree great news. FL site under Crusaders, the Acre building is shown, with reference at the end, 'a gateway is planned'. Come on 2017. Robin.

Great news, I better get one more tower and wall section before they are gone.

Now how about a battering ram.{sm4}
