Hello everyone,

I have a question about the Arnhem'44 series. I have An01 Battle for the Bridge, An006 Recce Jeep ,An002 Fighting Withdrawal and AN011 Single Paratrooper with Thompson. An01, An002 and An006 all came in a green box with a gold embossed emblem on the top of the box stating its "Limited Edition" status. An001 and An006 are in a longer narrow, rectangular box with a trifolded certificate of authenticity while An002 is in a smaller box then the other 2 boxes.

My An002 does not have a certificate of Authenticity but still has the limited edition embossed emblem on the box, did this piece ship without the certificate because of the smaller square shaped box would have prevented the certificate from folding as nicely as in the longer boxes? The sinlge paratrooper An011 is a small single box and I assumed this one does not have any special limited editions status but it kind of bugs me I may have somehow misplaced the authenticity cert from AN002. Does not having the cert reduce the overall value by much?

This is my first time to the forums, looks like a nice forum here!

Hello John-

sorry I cannot add anything to your question but offer a big and hearty STANDS ALONE! to you. We are a ragtag bunch of rabblerousers fully worthy of Mr. Wellington's "scum of the earth" cachism. :D

We look forward to any future contributions you may bring- especially if they are anti-Napoleon and Pro- Patton :D:D

Just kidding- but welcome aboard.

Hi John. If you got your An002 from a secondar source it may explain the missing certificate. All the K&C sets sent out at that time included the "Cert".
Diferent size boxes were not uncommon in this period of K&C production. And if I recall some times with a large dealer shippment the "Certs" were sent seperate to be placed in by the dealers. An over looked "Cert" could have happened then also.

Its also possible that this may be one of the re-released AN02 sets from 1999 or so, which would not have the certificate.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I bought all my King & Country at the time from a dealer in the Mid-West, his tiny gold sticker is on the side of the boxes. The irregular boxes used and absense of the cert in one of the boxes by shipping separately could explain it, thanks!

Louis, the box in question does have the gold embossed limited edition sticker, just not the cert, could that still be a re-released set? Thanks for the reply

Is this the set with the squatting Para holding a pistol and radio next to the "Arnhem 1 Km" sign? If so, look at the height of the sign. If it is on a longer post, then this is a re-issue, if it is on a short post, then its the original set. I have seen many of the original sets without limited edition certs over the years, but I haven't seen the re-issued sets in the original boxes, so you probably have an original set minus the certificate.

Hi Louis,

I do have the Arnhem set with the short sign, but the set in question is "Fighting Withdrawal" it's the MG'er behind the brick wall and some other soldiers, one is a pair of soldiers, one wounded and the other helping him with a pistol pointed in another direction. The box has the gold limited edition embosed sticker, just no certificate. Does it detract from the value much? I have no plans to part with them but would like to be fully aware of the consequences of not having it.

Thanks again!

John

As far as value is concerned, ask Brad (Jazzeum). He keeps track of Ebay prices, and can probably let you know the effect of absence of of the certificate.

Unfortunately, I've never tracked that particular factor, nor whether an issue is the first one or the second one. I can give you prices for the set if you like but that's about it. I also think the certificate thing can be a bit open to fraud as it's possible to get a set without a certificate but then if you happen to have an extra certificate lying around, voila, you have a certificated set.

Anytime John. By the way, where is Aurora, New York in relation to Nassau County on Long Island?

John,

Here are some Ebay prices on AN 002:

March 2007 $372, $330
April 2006 $240
March 2006 $355
May 2005 $369
April 2005 $620, $518
March 2005 $491

$350 is probably a fair figure for both buyers and sellers.

Thanks for the prices, it's good to see how they went up in value! Arnhem'44 is my favorite series

Louis, East Aurora is just South of Buffalo N.Y., I am at the other end of the state from you

Well, than I guess an offer to drop by and visit my collection might not be as convenient as I hoped. But if you ever come down to the Big Apple, let me know if you want to hang out.

Sure thing Louis, I do happen to get out that way every other year or so, the relative thing :)
