Hi guys,

I was doing some on-line searching for a guy who was wanting to identify some old toy soldiers, and my impression on seeing them was they looked like Mignot.

As it turned out, they were, AND I won the EBay bid, and so now awaiting the 3 NAPS to arrive from the USA.

What I found was:

livre "Collection CBG Mignot" de C. Blondieau

Réalisé en collaboration avec la célèbre et dernière marque française de soldats de plomb, CBG

as an on-line readable book, all 206 pages that can be viewed full screen!

Its brilliant and a great resource, so if you are at all interested, check it out here:

Thanks! I just bought the Red Book off EBay a couple of days ago. The Mignot figures are a bit addictive. I bought one Napoleonic set off of EBay three weeks ago. Then I saw they had French Revolution figures, which had been a major interest of mine in grad school years ago. Well, I had to buy quite a few of those pieces, including the sad but poignant diorama of Marie Antoinette at the Guillotine. Now I just bought two sets of Napoleonic cavalry from an auction site. Time to give my bank account a rest and enjoy the catalog.

That is a great link John. I love those CBG Mignot sets. I really like the civilian section.

That catalogue reminds me of a visit I made to the Toy Soldier Museum in Compiègne France a few years ago. 80,000 plus toy soldiers on show in massive diorama cases and none for sale {sm2}{sm3}

Thanks for sharing this.

Cheers
Paul

Yes, that museum was brilliant... I spent all morning there as we planned on seeing where the Armistice was signed in 1918 which is just outside the town.

We also deposited out hire car in Compiegne and spent the night in the town, before getting the train into Paris in the afternoon, thus saving a drive into the mad traffic of Paris.

The trip by rail was only about an hour and terminated at Gare du Nord, close by our hotel, so even if you are staying in Paris, its a great day trip to see toy soldiers and an very important WW1 site.

Isn't it a fantastic place John?

We were on holiday about five miles from there and we did the trips into Paris and visited some of the Great War graves and the Champagne region to keep the wife happy{sm4}.

I actually managed to get a behind the scenes look at some of their stored soldiers which they have no room to display and their reference library. Some of the "flats" are superb. They have a massive amount that isn't on show. There were a couple of guys repairing some of the painted figures. Fascinating.

I've made my mind up now to go back very soon{sm4}.
