Changing Grass Mat Color (1 Viewer)

I posted this question in one of the prior threads here but it seems to have been lost so I will try it here as a seperate thread. What type of dye or paint would you use to change the grass color to better match any bases you may have or to better match the desert grass with the medium grass mats? I assume a dye would be better since paint might stiffen and weigh down the grass.

It would also be interesting to know what colors are used in the desert mats?
