An empty set up table and day off were too tempting......

One of the best conversions of that charging CSA pose is to simply head swap a marching CSA figures kepi head onto the charging Confederate. Looks fantastic and really gives you some variety on the battlefield.

I was thinking of getting some of CTS's recasts and giving the marching kepi head poses some hat heads. Luckily there's enough repros of Marx to avoid damaging originals.

Awesome Scott! I was wondering if the kepis on the recasts still had the braid crosses on the tops. I can't tell from the pictures I see online.

I just looked at my recast Confederate figures. They do have crosses which may have been meant by MARX back in the 1960s to be corps badges. They didn't exist on "real" Confederates as we know, but look good. MARX Confederates have a more "correct" uniform with shell jackets and blanket rolls than the usual single pose cast or painted in blue or grey as in the Herald and Britains plastic ACW figures.

I use blue plastic MARX Confederate recasts as New York state units in shell jackets, as one can use gray cast MARX Union as tunic clad Confederate troops in Tunics.

Classic Toy Soldiers has been recasting MARX with some improvement to the straightness of the rifles.

This morning I happened to find an old Marx Civil War recast I bought in the '90s and took a shot at removing the cross. I used a concave carving blade (the crescent-shaped one) and it came off clean and easy with no damage to the sides of the crown.
