Yo Troopers, the lean spell is over^&grin, haven't bought a model for months being skint after the house move. Anyway just got six models they are in the post so taken the photos from the catalogue except for one. First are the only three Knights Chas made #170 Black Prince, #172 Richard 1 Coure-de Lion, #173 Edward 111. Richard 1 is very hard to come by for some reason, but got all three in one go. Next is #4 Private of the Parachute Regiment. next is #119 R M Commando Falklands War. Last is not a very good photo but its a very rare Hong Kong Policeman, dont know if this was ever issued, if any other Stadden collector knows of it, please let me know, but until then its the first one I have ever seen^&cool. Will put the photos up when they arrive.
Bernard.

Nice haul Bernard!!! Looking forward to seeing them when they arrive. The knights look really good!!

Bernard,

I don't know if Andy of K&C knocked off Stadden or what, but I have a K&C 90mm Hong Kong Policeman in that exact same pose, and it was sold as a casting, so yours could very well be the K&C casting if you've never heard of Stadden doing a 90mm Hong Kong Policeman before.

Yo Louis interesting mate sent you an email about it. I know this model came from the Stadden factory, will be interesting to find the true story about it.
Bernard.

I guess HP211 William the Conqueror doesn't count as a Knight,
but what do I know. Those darn Normans. :smile2:

The Hong Kong Policeman is one I definately would pass up,
rare or not. If it is stamped Chas. Stadden I can see why
it wasn't placed in wide production.:rolleyes2:

I think it has to do with titles, he was a Duke so would not be classed as a knight.

Hi Cardigan,

I just saw this on eBay. This seller has some amazing stuff!

http://cgi.ebay.com/STADDEN-ROYAL-M...756121329?pt=Toy_Soldiers&hash=item3cb646a6f1

Maybe, but he forgot to mention this one has
the sword broken off.
http://cgi.ebay.com/STADDEN-SIR-FRANCIS-DRAKE-80mm-/260756123391?pt=Toy_Soldiers&hash=item3cb646aeff

Anyone that is interested in Stadden would do well to get
a catalog and go over it carefully. Some of them have
missing parts and poorly painted.

Yo Troopers, you cannot get better advice than this from BL. The amount of money I have seen thrown away by ebay buyers is scandalous. The ebay sellers of course talk as if they are experts on Chas Stadden models IE: Studio painted or complete model, when they are neither, but if you are going to collect a certain maker you have to do your homework. If you cannot get a catalogue the next best thing to do is ask, now that doesn't cost anything.

Thought you might mention William the Conqueror BL lol, I was going to include him, but with him being the King piece in the Tower of London chess set, then put out as a single thought I would just mention the actual Knights made as singles, well that's my excuse^&grin. I also can understand what you mean about the Hong Kong Policeman, but if Chas made it that's good by me. Anyway have found out some info about it just waiting on Louis to send a photo of his version by K&C before I make a comment. Watch this space.

Bernard,

I emailed you two photos of the K&C 90mm Hong Kong Policeman next to my Chas. Stadden Dunkirk Beachmaster for scale. My policeman is factory painted in glossy finish by K&C, but it was also sold as a casting.

Sorry about the delay, I worked late last night.

Bernard asked me to post these so here goes :)

I would say they are to completely different figures. They have similarities that is about all.

Yo Brad, cheers mate for putting Louis photos up of the K&C Hong Kong Police officer.

Louis its time to see the Optometrist mate the old eyes are going:wink2:
its nothing like the Chas model, being honest mate think its a poor copy if that was the intent. Nobody yet I have seen can get anywhere near Chas Stadden's sculpts or facial features, He is like Elvis man still the King^&grin. Anyway mate thanks for the photo.
The info I have I can tell you now seeing your model. The Hong Kong Police Force commissioned Chas to do the models for them, the same as the LAPD police officer in my album, this is probably why I have never seen it before.
Bernard.

Now that I see the photos on the same thread, it is clear they are different. My bad.
