I picked these up at The Christmas Tree Shop. It's a chain store. I don't know if you have them outside of New England. Even if you don't use the battery powered lights, the street lamps could be good for the US or Europe.

Just break off the Christmas bows. The whole lamp is plastic.

Start looking at Michael's and AC Moore, now, too. Now is the time of year when they start putting out the Christmas diorama pieces. This week's flyer for Michael's is full of Christmas stuff, but features the Lemax Christmas village series prominently on the front page.

Prost!

The company that makes this series makes the "low rent" Christmas village. They have two other styles of lamp posts but these are the best and more in scale to 1/32 scale. The figures are very poor. LEMAX is much better. Plus The Christmas Tree Shop buys in bulk.

I have seen these at the Michael's store. I think I will go and get some tomorrow.

Michael's might have the LEMAX line which may be more expensive and a better quality.

You are right. They are $9.99. I will wait for a sale or clearance. All of the leftover Halloween stuff is now 50% off.

Michael's is a sure bet. The one near me already has their X-Mas stuff on sale for 25% off already. And they have full stock and a great selection. Fences, street lamps, cobble stone matts, grass matts and WATER Matts. I even found some nice pier sections.
Hallmark stores are another source for dio stuff. I picked up a working 1/32nd European water fountain for 50% off. Now would be the time to strike. In light of the economy, they want to move stuff in the worst way.

I agree on holding off buying these at Michael's, they want $9.99 for them now. If you have a Christmas Tree Shop in your area (the name is misleading, they don't just sell Christmas stuff, it's more like a larger and more upscale dollar store), I'd take Scott's tip and look there, if you have to buy them now, or wait till after Christmas to buy them at Michael's.

Michael's does have the other Lemax pieces out now, too, though, such as trees and the paving mats. Even at $10 a pop for a pack of trees, that's not too bad, considering the quality.

Prost!

I'd recommend solvents, but without having actually held one of the lamps in my hand, I won't make such a recommendation. But you could try putting them in the freezer, letting them chill, and then try snapping off the wreaths.

The cold temperature can make the glue brittle and more prone to snap, hopefully without removing any of the plastic. This works for scale models, for example, an old aircraft model, if you want to restore one and have to take it apart.

If it looks like it's some kind of craft glue, hot water (tea-hot) could help soften the glue.

Or you could try scribing along the glue seam with a new #11 knife blade or scalpel, until you can snap it.

Prost!

Speaking of our non-military miniatures sources for dio supplies, I was at my local Home Depot yesterday, and their selection wasn't so hot. The only really useful item they had was a bagged selection of winter pines of various size. I'm going to check back as we get closer to Christmas, but so far, around here, Michael's is the best bet.

We have a Christmas Tree Store here, too, but I haven't stopped in yet to see what they've stocked. Haven't stopped at WalMart yet, either. Well, it looks like I have my task list for the rest of the week!

Prost!
