The internet says USPS us the cheapest/safest way to ship to Australia.
Would most agree with that or is there something else I should consider?

Roughly 18X14x12. 13 LB box. 2 sets I can separate if needed
Quote is over 100 as of now.

Thanks in advance.
Chuck

from my experience...
USPS is always the cheapest postage International...
always...

might be cheaper to separate...
anything over 4 lbs. is automatic USPS Priority...
a box over 1728 cubic inches is a surcharge...
maybe 2 smaller lighter boxes would be best...
especially if you can get them under 4 lbs. each and in a box that is smaller...
12x12x12 box is 1728 cubic inches...no surcharge on the box...
if it's under 4 lbs. and under 1728 cubic inches...you can send it first class...

Thanks Mike

I will separate as one is under 4lbs. It will save him some money.

Mike mate,
I have had two small boxes shipped from Treefrog over the last couple of months and the postage on both was USD$72.10. These parcels took nearly 4 weeks to get to me going via Chicago, New York, then over the North Pole to Tokyo and then down to Sydney and onto Melbourne. The Parcels spent nearly a week in Chicago and New York Airports awaiting flights.
In "the good old days" a parcel the same size from Treefrog would be a third of the price and get to me in about 6 days going via Chicago, Los Angeles and directly into Melbourne.

Chuck mate,
The size of your parcel at a quote of USD$100 would sound reasonable based on my experience with Treefrog but I would also bow to the experience of my good Texan mate Mike. If you were sending the parcel to me with that quote I would not be happy with USPS but based on recent posting accept it as the norm. now from USPS.

I hope this helps. Cheers Howard

Howard...
that's sad...
the North Pole...
I bet that box had a few stickers on it when it finally arrived...^&grin
I know Treefrog posts as quick as possible...
after that...
it's at the mercy of the delivery system...
International shipping can sometimes be a nightmare...

Mike mate,
No fault of young Julie. Treefrog service cannot be faulted. She and I discuss the subject and she advised it was taking her over a week to get a parcel to California.

Good chat you old Texas Longhorn{sm4} Stay safe, Cheers Howard

Howard...
come visit next year to San Antonio...
we can get drunk and eat tacos...
I really enjoyed seeing you last time...

FYI - you cannot send First Class to Australia currently! They (USPS) is not accepting parcels shipping that method to Australia.

You're kind of stuck with USPS Priority right now, or possibly FedEx, which is probably more expensive?

Thanks for the kind words Howard! We try, but get stuck waiting on the carriers to do their job. Hits us incoming and outgoing now. Tracking my K&C shipment and it's just sitting in IL "waiting for next available movement". *Sigh*

Julie...
this just happened this week?
I did not know this...
that blows big time...
and agreed...
both UPS and Fedex are not competitive for International pricing...

Mike,

I received notice last week, luckily we stopping shipping that method in early 2020 since parcels were taking months to receive a scan anywhere.

Julie

Thanks Julie

It’s on the usps website. Suspended to Covid.
I guess we wait.

Julie...
I'm guessing when they are processed as "return to sender"...
there is no compensation for the original postage purchased to the shipper?

UPS is the highest cost international shipper.
And they offer the worst service level.

It's quite a feat.

FED EX is not much better.

DHL is by far the best, but they do not have shipping locations in the US for you to send parcels, only incoming.

They offer great rates at top shelf service; they are owned by the German postal system.

USPS has it's warts, but for me, they are aces, competitive rates, their service level for the most part is very good.

Unlike FED EX and UPS, when there is an issue, I can get it resolved vs sitting on hold until I am old enough to collect social security.

And unlike FED EX and UPS, they offer priority and first class rates on larger, heavier boxes...............UPS jams you with rural route and gas surcharges on top of their sky high flat rate prices.

George mate,
Liked your post cobber, but the problem with DHL in Australia is when the parcel arrives here they have a field day with additional charges to the addressee. Admin Charges, Handling Charges, Quarantine Charges, Customs Charges, etc. Fedex is the same but slightly less BS Charges. USPS may have problems in the U.S. but when the parcel hits OZ shores it is taken over by Aussie Post and seems to flow (without any BS Charges if the value stated is under USD$700) onto the addressee reasonably quickly.

If I am asked by the seller in the U.S. how I want my parcel shipped it will always be by USPS.

Stay safe mate, I wish I could join you at the Treefrog Social Gathering and enjoy a beer or three, but the Government won't let us out of the Country.

Cheers Howard

You can try!
We are still fighting some packages returned to sender from when COVID first hit last year. It's an uphill battle but if you are willing to keep pestering them, you may win.
