Totally cool 2-color uniform that goes back to the late 1920s. One troop of the 106[SUP]th[/SUP] Cavalry was allowed to self-fund the purchase of these uniforms and ride black horses for civic events in Chicago. Somehow the practice survived the Great Depression, but not WWII.

This link has neat old newspaper articles on the unit. The reference I used was H. Charles McBarron’s CMH print.

I got lucky and found an armless, headless old New Hope Design figure in a drawer. The jack boots, gauntlets and other embellishments are lead foil, wire, and goop. The head and arms are from the Island of Doctor Moreau, where I keep such things.

That's a great kitbash! And a unique subject for your collection, too. Well done!

Prost!
