Again, I'm not a glossy figure collector but these were cool. I'm sure the glossy figure collectors among you already know about them however, the rest of you who don't should take a good hard look at them.

Re: Chicago Show - Summerset

Somerset makes some of the best soldiers in the hobby, simply beautiful.

I may be biased because I think Ron Leh is a great guy, but I happen to think Sommerset makes just about the best glossy figures out there. I have a special place in my heart for their camels and their elephants. If Ron ever accepts my annual invitation to the New York Symposium, I will have to buy an elephant gun team and a platoon of camel corps for my collection.

I agree these are the best camels on the market. They have great detailing to the faces which most don't have.
I ended up buying the Bikanir camel drawn cannon and limber set.
It's amazing and Ron did an excellent packaging job.

Louis, interesting similarities to the early KandC camels in style and pose.
I believe you mentioned that was where Andy got his inspiration.

Clive,

Hope you had a good trip back and that everything made it back ok.

"Inspiration" is a nice way of putting what Andy did. However, we are the luckier for it.

Clive,

The Indian Army Camel Corps figures were produced in China upon casts licensed from Somerset figures. Ron Leh from Sommerset was also responsible for sculpting the prone wounded and dead Highlanders. Interestingly, some of the regiments Andy chose to depict never had Camel contingents.

Hi Brad,
Had a great time, I posted my thanks etc.,earlier. (I'm becoming prolific) But it was great to meet all the names and faces, even more than the multitude of offerrings.
Lucky I had to fly otherwise I'd have filled a cargo truck.
The Officers are on parade as we speak.
