I see a lot of kale in my future. Who knew Santa was so evil?{sm2}

Always good to see the threads and posts about people receiving toy soldiers for gifts. However what about the cool and not so cool gifts that were not toy soldiers ?

I did pretty well this year although there were a couple of doubtful items.

Had resisted the pressure of the thousands of TV ads but finally under the tree appears a Nutribullett machine thingy. Silly me reads the manual and like a new cult follower I rush off to the shops to stock up on ammo for this invention that is clearly going to do wonderful things for me. The better half is unbelieving that I actually suggested the visit and even more so when I explain the purpose is to buy fruit and veg (she did not buy the machine). So into the trolley goes : kale ( no more jokes about kale drinking hipsters from me), spinach, goji berries, blackberries, cranberries, walnuts, bananas, apples, pineapples, kiwis, and a few other items. The better half tried to get carrots involved but I pointed out I was the one who had read the book. Let's be honest it is the first time I have even acknowledged kales existence.

Anyway the total bill was $73{sm3}. Sucked in well and truly. Will be interesting to see how many drinks I get out of this shopping trip. Then more importantly are they drinkable ? Who knows might even start a thread seeking recipe suggestions ^&grin

Somebody must have guessed I would be watching Star Wars and decided I needed a T shirt of the style worn by 12 year olds (perhaps he had high hopes for the effects of the Nutribullett). Trying hard to think of somebody to re-gift this to.

Being a cunning gift giver I gave my son Game of Thrones Monopoly (more of a family gift) and promptly lost the first game. I would have got GOT Risk but looked too complicated compared to the one I grew up with. Had previously got LOTR Risk but have never won that version. The designers of the GOT Monopoly clearly not too bright as still has the same Free Parking, Jail and Go to Jail space designs as normal version. Surely should be free horse stable, Go to dungeon or something.

No socks or undies this year ! However many more chocolates than normal which must be some sort of counter balance to the health machine.

Anyway the food was great and always good to see the grand kids opening their presents. Those big Hulk hands look dangerous on a 3 year old.

Ham and Turkey for dinner again tonight.

Hope everybody had a Merry Christmas.

Four huge meals of ham/chicken/prawns/roast and some bread and potato and a few scraps of salad and Christmas is done. Present wise, I got several shirts, along with instructions to at least throw out the same number of old ones (the wife doesn't seem to like the shirts that I hugged previous girlfriends with). I also got some sort of man perfume - from my dog apparently! If he's drawing the line at how I smell......

Bread and potato............ no matter how good the meal or buffet etc I will still find room for a good piece of bread or roll and potato salad, and coleslaw.

Hopefully your dog has a good sense of smell. Perhaps too good. May be it was the dog who detected the former girlfriends smell on your old shirts. Don't trust him !

No Toy Soldiers for me this Christmas.

But in roughly 12 hours from now, my wife and me will be on the way to the airport and then going for spending the next eight days in Maui, Hawaii :smile2:
That's the Christmas gift from both of us to us :wink2: ^&grin

It also serves as a check-off of two items on my bucket list. Once, spending a vacation in HI, second, spending New Year's Eve in a warm climate under Palm Trees.

Really looking forward to it.

For the new year though, I do have a few Toy Soldiers in my mind and will get them every now and then.

Cheers, and Happy Collecting!

Good for you !!!

Make sure you breath in some of that fresh Hawaiian air...been over 20 years since I was there...but never 'sensed' anything like the clean air of Hawaii.

Have fun !

Your gifts were paid for by my gifts! The circle of Life!

Your gifts were paid for by my gifts! The circle of Life!

Much appreciated:salute:: BUT I think you mean the gifts I give to others. For the record this would include Frozen dresses, dinosaur T shirts, Marvel toy figures, Monopoly, tableware and the fruit and veg for my health machine{sm4}

The circle of life certainly applies if you (and others) are paying for the fruit and veg to keep me healthy so I can keep on working to a ripe old age ^&cool I am already thinking who I can associate with the kale purchases !

I am not sure it applies but on Christmas Eve while taking my dogs (Uno & James Franco) for our usual walk I found a red mini pinscher loose and running the streets. I was afraid he would get hit by a car so I coaxed him to follow us home. After some treats he finally came into our home. My wife and I took him to the veterinarian, he is in good health but not micro tripped for tracking and has no collar. We have taken an ad out online and left fliers out in the nieghborhood, but three days on we have had no contact. He is a great dog, he sits and shakes on command. Not sure he is our Chritmas miracle just yet but for now he is living the good life, lincluding filet mignon for Chritmas dinner!

Thank you for picking him up and keeping him safe. Those type dogs are not meant to be out in cold weather. (If you're having cold weather were you are. I had to turn on our AC last night.)
If you are on Facebook, you might check to see if your area has Lost and Found Pets Pages to see if he's been listed there. You can post you found one. Don't post a picture or put any info about him other than it's a Min Pin. Anyone inquiring, you can have describe the dog to make sure it's theirs.

Michele:

It has been unusually warm in Texas, however last night the weather turned quite cold and stormy. There was no way I could leave him to the elements, dangerous roads or strangers with bad intentions.

We have posted info about him online but no pictures. He has a few distinct features that his owner would know about so if anyone calls we will quiz them throughly first. We have not had any inquires yet. My wife is starting to think he was dumped while I hold out hope that his owners went away for the Christmas weekend not realizing that their dog got out.

In the meantime he is enjoying all the comforts of home. We just got back from a long walk (in between storms it would seem as the wind and rain just picked up again) and he is laying with our dogs pack style on the couch/pillows covered in blankets. Most importantly he is safe.

Best,
Jason

All,

A new pair of Birkenstocks...the best sandals in in the world. Ask anyone who has suffered with plantar fasciitis.

John from Texas

Oh Good Lord Wayne, my out of shape butt could not even fit in one of those and the price tag...aye dios! I am thoroughly happy with my Tundra and frankly I have never been a sports car kinda of guy. I am saving my dimes for a 1965 Buick Riviera, IF the wife will let me get one.

John your east Texas neighbor.

Sorry for the delayed update but we located the owners of the dog we found on Christmas Eve. Mauser (the name we gave him, his actual name is Cooper) was returned to his owners on New Years Eve.
