Some of you may remember some Civil War cannons that Troiani Historical Miniatures sold a few years back. The detail is very nice! They originally sold for $50 each - we now have them available for $30! Right now there are few Civil War era artillery on the market. This is a chance to fill out that diorama!

Nice looking guns. Is the carriage gray or is it just the photo?

The guns are the correct shade of green for the period. As you may remember...each of these guns were made from measurements and photos of original tubes and an original #1 carriage from collections of my friends, including Don's Napoleon.

Thanks Ken. I was hoping it wasn't gray. I also have friends with original equipment and I own a full scale bronze 6-pdr myself although, it is not original. Still a heck of a lot of fun. I may just pick up a couple of those 3" Rifles.

I recently spent a couple of days at West Point working in the collection looking for more clues on early American carriages, specifically for 6-pdr tubes. Although I have been active with full scale ACW artillery since the early eighties, my real interest is in the 1790 to 1830 period.
There are few, if any original carriages from this earlier period that survive intact. They range from rebuilds, to reconstructions with varying bits from the original guns. The more we look into it, the less standardization we seem to see. The hub and spoke construction is the most elusive as these had the shortest service life. One of my good friends has a late 1830s carriage in pretty good condition with all of the hardware...but no wheels.
ACW is pretty straight forward with a multitude of original ordinance and woodwork surviving with little or no modifications. With that said...the ACW guns are still a lot of fun to shoot as you well know!
