Has anyone ever participated in these. I've heard about them and wonder what they're like. There is a New Jersey one that meets near me and I was thinking of attending the next meeting.
Several years ago, I regularly attended the monthly meetings of the Civil War Roundtable of East Central Kansas. The Roundtable met monthly in a library in Topeka, Kansas. The meetings were excellent and the discussions were extremely interesting. Many times there were guest speakers and the list of such speakers included Civil War history authors, experts in specific aspects of the Civil War, museum administrators, and Civil War scholars. The detailed information that was presented was invaluable.
Another wonderful benefit of attending the meetings was making friends with others who had similar interests. In that sense, the Roundtable fulfilled a purpose similar to that of participating on the Treefrog Forum. Since I know you have a depth of interest in the Civil War, I highly recommend you give the experience a try. I do not think you will be disappointed.
If you decide to attend the Roundtable, please report your reactions to us. I will be very interested in your experience.
