UKSubs started an interesting topic called K&C Non-Combat Figures. As part of the discussion, a few K&C fans shared some thoughts on non-combat and civilian figures.

Expanding my own "civilian collection", I had to snag another Life of Jesus (LoJ) set, In the Carpenter's Shop, before the retired piece is all dried up.

I never thought I would be purchasing any of the LoJ sets as part of a WWII dio, but they are nicely detailed figures and have some great colors; a deviation from the standard DAK and British 8th tans and greens. These figures, just as the Desert Village buildings, are so versatile for various desert scenes. A+ King & Country!

The Desert War was fought mostly in open, non-populated areas so I'm not sure I agree with you on this one.

Gee ... I don't know Brad on this??? ...:rolleyes2: I have the TV series "The Rat Patrol" and I see a lot of fighting in the cities and towns.
I am sure that no one can object to using this TV series as conclusive historical evidence! --- {sm3} {sm4} RIGHT!

The show further proves that the Germans were terrible shots. 100 Germans were always shooting at Troy, Moffitt, Hitchcock and Pettigrew and hardly gave them a scratch. Yet Troy used his 45 Automatic and blew up a half-track, going 50 MPH with a single shot bouncing around the desert dunes.

But ... that aside, a wonderful and colorful DAK dio WO.

The LOJ series is excellent, colourful and versatile across a great deal of era's. Nice scene WO. Robin.

That may be true, but I'm sure many allies and axis forces stopped at nearby desert towns and villages to gather information, refuel, and obtain food and water. I think the LoJ theme provides a number of civilians for different desert armies. Here's a K&C dio that has provide me some inspiration:

Thanks Larry and as a BIG FAN of Rat Patrol, I enjoyed reading the historic evidence as suggested by the TV show. You forgot to mention well placed molotov cocktails used to take out yellow school buses.^&grin That aside, I still love the show and if K&C ever offered a Troy or Moffitt, I'd be on it!

Thanks Robin. Appreciate the nice feedback.

There were a few and of course you can't forget about Tobruk. Some civilians in something other than biblical garb would be a welcome addition. Don't know if that's in the works.

Hi Guys,
A big “Thankyou” to “Western Outlaw” for posting his own pix of his Desert Town scenario AND adding on our K&C ‘spread’ showing the Aussies’ making themselves at home elsewhere.
The “Il Duce” wall painting was done by yours truly and helps set the little scene somewhere in Libya… maybe just outside Tobruk or Benghazi sometime in 1941/42.
Thanks again and best wishes,
Andy

P.S. More Civilians of all descriptions and historical eras are “in the works” as I write.

I second to Jazzeum and many others.......Do you have any plans to make more buildings and or strucutures within the great Desert Village collection?
The series is very useful and versitile and play a key role in dios going from the Nativity, Egypt,Roman,Napoleonic,French Foreign Legion, WW1,WW2 as well as modern ......

Totally agree - we really do need some more buildings and larger walls and gateways. The ones K and C did were great but we do need some more...I am still trying to find the desert walls that were made several years ago and are in these pictures - talk about scarce these would be a great re-issue

Hey guys,

No disrespect intended but this topic really isn't about walls of the Sahara, but rather the civilians that build the walls.^&grin

I too, would love to see more buildings/walls added to the Desert Village Collection but that's another topic. Plus, haven't we climbed the one pictured on the right enough over the past couple of years.;)

Threads tend to meander, that's just the nature of forums :wink2: You can't have villages for civilians unless you have -- the village. Moreover, Andy said civilians are coming.

I'm trying to think of some witty comment but can't come up with anything after a long day.

I'll just have to take some new pictures of my village and then we can talk about the walls all over again.:wink2:

Hi Guys,
Any more Desert Buildings? The answer quite simply is definitely yes!
Many thanks for your support, enthusiasm and suggestions.
Best wishes,
Andy
