Without doubt, one of my favorite models...in any medium.

But, GMP Mustangs tend to fetch better resale dollars.

Phooey on that!

The Warhawk is hands-down the better scale replica.

Weighs a ton, and tight as a drum.

Only gripe is the Rube Goldberg landing gear retraction mechanism.

Scary that thing, and more than one "new" GMP P-40 on Ebay is actually a used one with broken MLG.

Base is nice too, cast zinc with a nice wooden frame.

Really lament the fact that GMP didn't make more of them.:(

Hi Moe,
that true, the P-40 is a tick better then the P-51, but both are really exceptionally diecast models. Cockpits openable, retracting UC, all flaps moveable, retaractable tanks, service hatch for the MG in the wings can be open, engin cover also removeable.
The diorama base is not zinc, it is a kind of Resin or so.

Hiya Pauck,

Now you've got me interested in the base, in so far as mine is HEAVY.

That in spite of the fact that it's relatively thin.

In fact, it's thin enough that I'd be concerned that resin would crack/break with relatively little shock to the surfaces.

Like I said, though, mine is solid as can be.

If it's not solid metal, could it be reinforced with metal?

Hi Mo,

at my service diorama I have a chip by an accident, somthing fail on the display, and it white under the surface... and it is non magnetic
No idea what kind of material it is.
