Hey all,

Just wanted to let you all know that we are closing down the shop and moving to the web.

We will continue to carry King & Country, Forces of Valor, many of the childrens toys like Schleich, Papo, Siku, Schylling and others.

We are having a great 25 to 50% off sale to lighten our load for the move.

The sale applies to most items you all would find intereting but does not cover King & Country.

If you are interested in what we are moving out please give me a call at 212-674-4434. We'll be in until 6 tonight and 12-6 throughout the week.

Cheers.

I as many of you that have visitied Gideons shop Classic Toys in NYC on Sullivan Street are going to miss this wonderful shop. Gideon deserves a lot of credit for 1st putting Andy C. intouch with a lot of the top collectors here in the USA. While some of these collectors are now well known Gideon and his wonderful shop should be recognized also for his wonderful contributions to both our hobby and King & Country. I bought my 1st piece from Gideons shop back in 1998 recently Gideon mentioned that he had sold the WS20 but did not remember if he had ever had the WS20W. Well he did, it was one of the 1st King and Country items I ever saw, and it was terrific! Unfortunatly because I was flying back home I passed on it, instead I purchased FJ01, WS15, and a bunch of the early DD sets. It was still an armful, and I really should have shoved that WS20W under the seat!
I never saw any of the earlier wood pieces but over the years I have gotten many wonderful pieces from Gideon & Classic Toys, I enjoyed spending an afternoon speaking with Gideon and his dad, and I want to thank him and wish him all the best!
Good luck Gideon, I wish Classic Toys continued success!

Until I accidentally discovered Classic Toys in 1993, the only Toy Soldiers I had any knowledge of were William Britains. When I walked in for the first time one word came to mind: Mecca! They started me on Imperial, Trophy, Tommy Atkins and Frontline. I would like to think that I convinced them to carry King & Country. I am so saddened that the shop on Sullivan Street (one of the most beautiful Toy Soldier shops I've ever seen) which, with Gideon's genius for display and John's encyclopedic knowledge of history, I have always considered a home away from home, are closing. However, it the people, not the space, that always mede me feel welcome, so instead of good bye, I say good luck Gideon, John, Neesha and Tony at the new digs in the loft space, and if you need any help moving, I'm your man. You can still count on me as a loyal customer and friend.

This is the second toy store closing in the past week. The Colonial Toy Soldier in the town I live, Chester, New Jersey, has closed its doors because of high rent. Mike De Marco, the owner, hopes to start an internet business. Internet businesses are fine and I do most of my business that way these days but there is nothing like going in, talking to the people and seeing the merchandise up close. That's why shows are good.

I only met Gideon in the past year and visited his store a few times. What a great place to go. So many things to see and displays to enjoy. He has an enclopedia of knowledge in that little cranny of his. There were not just metal toy soldiers but something for everyone. When I visited there last year with a couple of cousins, Gideon enchanted them with his store and some of his rare Streets of Hong Kong sets. That store will be sorely missed.

Gideon if you get a chance you should post a shot or two of your great display windows and glass showcases! I'm sure everyone would enjoy seeing them. Your store will be missed!

It sad to hear you are closing your shop. I wanted someday to visit you there. I will get around to sending you the CD Book about the 101st Airborne. I forget things unless I make myself a note, This happens when you old like me. Please email me a new address to mail it to you.
What ever you are going to do to make a living, you have my prayers that it all works out for you.
