"Classic" War of the Worlds movie (1 Viewer)

Big WOTW fan. This looks pretty interesting and certainly worth a look if for no other reason than to see the movie set in the correct time period. -- Al

Not much could be worse that the Speilberg/Cruise version. I think it is worth trying, even if it is just a really bad movie. I did note that the Netflicks 94 minute version is much shorter than the 135 minute Director's Cut shown in the link. Interestingly Amazon has a regular version alledgedly running 179 minutes.

Some reviews I've read say that there are more "walking" scenes than Lord of the Rings. I know they get the Royal Artillery uniforms wrong. They have them in odds and ends khaki.

I like bits of the Spielberg version but he combined the Curate and the Artilleryman into one unpleasant character. Boston has no Minuteman statue that I know of near the South East Expressway. I did like seeing Gene Barry and the Ann Robinson from the 1952 version as the grandparents in the final scene.

I bought this movie in a bargain bin.:).It is the only movie that I have ever thrown away:mad:..Sorry, but that is my opinion. Michael

A quick look at the trailer shows that the narrator's brother's adventure with the to ladies is included. Did the movie maker use the brother or the hero for this incident in his movie?
