I think I may have found a new tagline- Coach Chris instead of Currahee Chris...
My daughter's soccer coach canceled practice yesterday so I volunteered- had a good time mustering the younglings (age 5-6). Not sure what I was doing- I was a football (American) and wrestling guy- soccer was something we did in gym class.
Anyway, she was really jazzed and worked twice as hard. She has scored 18 goals in 5 games- just dominates the field. I love watching her tear down the field, she is so amazing and at times just looks supernatural (boy do I sound like a biased father!!!).
Kind of scares me that girl, she loves country music- especially "8th of November" "American Soldier" those kinds of songs. She is learning all about the 173rd airborne (the unit they sing about in 8th of November). She has even mastered the monkey bars- goes back and forth on them- looks like a little red headed ranger!! HOAAH!!!
I showed her my Normandy village post here on TF. She liked all the Napoleonics way more than mine. Figure'd I'd get some home field advantage with that one but no love- when I asked her why she responded "cause there's horses."
Sorry for all the personal info, just kind of scared- there is no doubt in my mind this one will be in Army Greens and will carryon our family tradition. I always get a little emotional this time of the year- a few more days and it will be the 4 year anniversary of one of my bros passing in Iraq- 31 year old father of three. I just can't help but feel guilty. I can't imagine what it was like for the guys who had to fight WW2, Korea or Nam. I just wouldn't have been tough enough.....
All the Guiness and Jagermeister can't take that feeling away. Just gotta keep trucking. When I go to work, I wear my American Flag tie to work to commemerate it. Funny thing is no one asks why anymore, sometimes I don't think people even realize I am wearing it.
