Not long ago I read Bearded Brigands trooper Joplins Diaries of his time in the LRDG. He make referrence again and again to how cold he was and needing his Great Coat. So all those threads about battle dress and coats in the desert are born out. Time for the LRDG to make a reappearance IMHO.

I have also seen lots of pics of AK 88mm gunners in long overcoats during the day.Must have got abit nippy now and again.As for the LRDG,i think you may have a lot of support on that one(me included)
