i dont know if this is the right area to post?anyway here is some bits and peices of my coldstream guards collection,left to me by my poppa who was in the guards in the late 1920s 1930s .i wonder how much of this paper stuff is still around, the callander? is 1931,the ceremony of trooping the colour is june the 3rd 1927 in shanghai,
these things are nice to have,i wonder if anyone else on the board has any information about this stuff.?.

Hi Simo, you have some very nice pieces there, a really nice keepsake of your father. If you contact the Guards Museum in London you could most likely obtain your father's service record from them, if they don't have them the Public Records Office in Kew should. It would be nice to make a collection of figures showing him at various stages of his military career from enlistment to demob.

thanks for that a great idea ,trooper,it was my grandfather,we did have more of this stuff badges pins etc but it was stolen in a housebreak in the late 1970s.

That is a great collection of artifacts you have there. Shame about the break-in. Do you have any old photographs of your grandfather to go with the memorabilia?

yes saber got a couple of originals and a couple of photocopies,by brother has got the other half of this collection,we have a few of his uniform buttons also.
speaking of photos my dad use to say grandfather had photos of when he was in china of beheadings dont know what happend to them.

What a neat collection. Do have them displayed in a case. Personally I would have them mounted in a shadow box and have a few Coldstream guard toy soldiers marching along the bottom.

britfarmer i would love to do that but i am scared if there is ever a break in that we will lose them,like we did with the first lot,so i keep them well hidden.
you can replace most things but it would be hard to replace them.
