Hi Guys,

Like many of you I have always said “Buy what you like… what you can afford…and you will rarely be disappointed!

As I have never bought or sold anything on ebay or other internet markets all I know about these secondary markets is what I read here on the Forum. Sometimes a particular item goes “through the roof” if there are two or more collectors desperately seeking it…At other times bargains are available if it’s the seller who wants a quick sale at almost any price. Like most opportunities in life its all about being “in the right place at the right time.”

Whatever you do buying, selling, or like most of us, just collecting…enjoy it and have some fun.

All the best!

Andy is spot on here. Whether it is K&C or anything else the moment you buy it based on its future value is the moment the item changes. My wife and I enjoy fine art, as soon as she asks what the potential increase of a piece might be we always walk away. Its enjoyment will no longer be about aesthetics, rather it will be about economic upside. At that point it is no longer art, it is an investment. Investments rise and fall, thus disappoint becomes an intrinsic measure.

Buy what you like… what you can afford… is how I have always collected. It's always been for fun - never for profit. I don't keep records of purchases and sales and couldn't tell you the price of many of the items that I have bought or sold. I don't keep score. I deal with purchases and sales as they are valued today and that has nothing to do with my collecting (other than wishing I could afford more).

I posted this in the original "Collector's Code" thread, and I'll post it here, too. On the secondary market, an object's price is whatever the seller and buyer agree on.

Prost!

why is it we need another thread for the same topic ?
