I have just joined the Collectors Club and received today the membership pack and figure.

I can't understand why I didn't join years ago! What value for money! {sm3}.. apart from the figure (matt 24th foot wounded figure with pistol) there was a £10 voucher, issues 37, 38 & 39 of The Standard and the folder to keep them in, the 3 catalogues for this year, membership card and flyers and info sheets. {sm3}

I have had a quick flick through the copies of The Standard and makes for a fine read by the look of it.

The best £35 I've spent in a long time! Well done to WBritains! {bravo}}

Glad to see you have joined the gang Jeff{sm4}. I agree with what you have said.
I really look forward to receiving the catalogues, up-dates and the Standard. They make a great reference library once you have built up a few years worth.
I always buy the club figures if they are Napoleonic or Zulu and the voucher always helps with this very expensive hobby.
IMO it's these little extras that set WB apart from the other manufacturers.
Cheers
Paul

Nice one Jeff, I think you've sold me on it, I'll probably sign up in London in December. (in the meantime don't throw away that mag with the WW1 article mate!:wink2:)

You persuade me to join the club too!!!

I'll do it this week-end, believe it or not but it will be my first WB figure, in the meantime i'll receive the Zulu War British Royal Artillery Gun Team...

As a long time member of the club I can tell you that you will be very pleased with the offerings especially the collectors club only figures. They usually have something for most interests.

Welcome to the club

Dave

I have been a member for about 5 years now I think? Great value for money and the figures are always top notch.

My experience has been rather different with the club. I joined this year and after a fairly long wait I got the membership package. I did get a Standard, I didn't get a membership card. I had to phone First Gear to find out my number which I now keep written on a catalogue. I emailed the club but but they ignored me. The figure that I received was great but certainly not "free". Never did get the membership card. I paid, I believe $68 and for that I got a figure that is valued at $30 and the Standard quarterly. The Standard and access to a limited number of Club sets on sale were the only real benefits that my membership gave me. By my calculations I'm paying $9.50 per issue for the Standard, double what I pay for Toy soldier. Great value? I'm not too sure about that.

'm already joined the club in the last century
and look again each time after the new standard and figuurs
in twenty years have seen many changes membership
jeff so welcome and rob it was time for the club

Hi Guys,

I had to take a sec and replay to Dan, his post is fine if and his opinion is also no problem so Dan don't take offense. I joined the club a long while back, late 03 I believe, and since then I have acquired most of the back issues of the Standard gong back to the first year of the Club. I use them as research and find them just plain fun to read. I also put in entries to the question of the quarter when I see the prize is one I would really like to have in my collect, cost of this is a little time to answer the question and fill out a few post cards and send them in and keep my fingers crossed that I answered the question correctly and get picked. Surprisingly I have won the contest a couple of times my favorite figure from this is the dinner figure of Queen Elizabeth in the Order of the Garter Robes. They only made enough for the people attending the dinner and surprisingly had a couple of people not attend so we the club members received the opportunity to win a very limited edition figure. Another bennie of the Club is the figures they make for sale to the club members only. These sets and figures are amazing and for the cost they are well worth it. Check out these guys. Remember that these figures were acquired over a long period of time as a member so the bennies take some time to become apparent but they will and I know I enjoy being a member.

Dave

Dave, there isn't anything in your post to take offense at. As to my post, I shared my experience with the Collector'S Club. I am a big fan of Britains figures or else I wouldn't collect them. I like the Standard, lots of good stuff in there and, if the latest issue is an example, it is getting better. I will probably continue to be a member and hopefully sometime down the road, they'll send me a membership card although now that I see that there is one included in the address of the packaging that brought the Standard it is much less important. I guess that I was a little bit disappointed that there wasn't any kind of online forum or Reader's Feedback aspect to the magazine. One of the main reasons that I joined the club was give myself some contact with other collectors. Well, since then I've discovered this site and that gives me what I was looking for. The thing is though, that I spotted a couple of things in the Standard that I considered to be errors butt here isn't anyway to point out things like that or to give feedback. I did send an email to the company about the errors but didn't get a reply.
Enough said! I love the Britains figures and that's the important thing.

Hi Dan,

I usually don't worry about offending folks too much but it pays to nice these days since there are a lot of folks on this site that have thin skin. That said, if you find an error please send a note to Ken Osen. He is the new manager of the company and I know he will get the note to the right person and will for sure let you know he got your note. I hope this helps.

Dave
