Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the main diffrences between #356 and 694? Both are winter Panther G's. It looks like zimmerit and schurzehn are obvious diffrences but was wondering which one folks generally think is better. If anyone has side by side photos of the two it would be appreciated.
I wasn't able to find any photos using the search feature of 694. I have the 356 (which I like) and was thinking of adding another.
Thanks!

One is an early G without the Mantlet Chin, the other is a late G with the Mantlet Chin. Zimmerit was discontinued in September 1944 and was not applied to late Panther Gs. The two versions are both about 1/27 scale; oversize for 1/30 scale, but they will work well with TCS. K&C and TG figures. Too large to be size compatable with FL and WB figures. The Glacis plate slope is a little more oblique on the late version than on the early version. The early version engine hatch opens and the engine is present, nice for dioramas. The figures are different with each version. Lots of photos of both version come up on a Google search of images.

Seems like the Normandy Panther "G" has dropped down quite a bit, possibly to clear out Inventory. Pretty good deal at under $140.00 Retail now.

Thanks kindly for the information. I saw this going on sale so went ahead and ordered one. I was not successful in finding any images online aside from the front box cover / promo image.

Hi,
My Collectors Showcase Winter Panther G (356 ) came second hand and it had the cylindrical tube on the left side of the tank body missing. This tube I believe was used to hold the gun cleaning rod.
I don't suppose that anyone has one by chance from a broken model or have any ideas for replacement?
I did check with the Collectors Showcase to see if they had any lying around by any chance and no luck there.

Thanks
Arnar

Some late Panther Gs had them mounted on the rear deck or not at all, as resources diminished in the late Reich. Tamiya 1/25 scale model Panthers and Jagdpanthers have one plus a lot of other spare parts for detailing. The TCS is 1/27 so 1/25 is close enough in size. The Tamiya models are available on both Amazon and Ebay. Typically $40 to $60 if you shop around or find an open box or partially assembled model.
