With the 100 year commemorations of the start of the Great War coming up next year it got me thinking of all the Great war memorials there must be in the world. At the end of the Great War there was a great out pouring of grief and a belief that this just might be the war that ended all wars and so there was seen to be a need to commemorate the sacrifice of the servicemen and the fallen. The result being some truely magnificent memorials ranging from the great cemeteries of the western front to the humble village memorial. Here in Australia the Australian War Memorial in Canberra is one of our nations greatest places and if you ever have the chance it is a must to visit. This thread is about those memorials that commemorate the fallen of that war so post a pic of your local memorial be it one in a great city or a small town. I for one look forward to the commemorations starting next year in memory of the fallen of the Great War. I post some pics of the AWM.
