I just received three references "restock" French line infantry.
I did a little comparison with earlier references.
Some comments::rolleyes:
1: Face painting is lighter (white, less "tan")
2: shadows in the folds of the trousers are quite gray.
old references rather yellow ocher, tan ...
3: the jackets are pure white
4: the ration of food had to be better!! have caught the new belly! (French: "pot-bellied"):D
Conclusion: The quality sculpture and painting is as usual with FL: this is the best! I find no fault with these "restock":)
enclose some pictures (medium quality) to better explain my comparatif.J hope that with google translator with my explanations will be understandable.:confused:

Yes, very nice review. If anything, the differences that you show only enhance the overall scene when all the French Line are displayed. With 38 (or however many it is) figures, a little variation in these minor details is good.

Great comparison mate and your translation came out just fine. I think these comparative photos and observations are quite detailed and interesting but I would offer some alternative thoughts.

I certainly agree that the new release figures have some subtle differences in appearance, including slightly lighter faces and brighter colors overall. To be fair though, I think you need to compare the same numbered figures to each other to get the best comparisons. For example, if I am not mistaken your old figures are NAP0031, NAP0051 and NAP0060, while your new figures shown are NAP0033, NAP0037 and NAP0036. To complicate things further, number 51 is a voltigeur and 57 is grenadier. The rest, including the one old number 31 are fusiliers so the best comparison is between 31 and the three new ones. In that regard NAP0031 has what appears to be the same color highlighting on the trouser folds as the new figures.

I happen to have a new and old NAP0031 and NAP0033. To me, the new faces are a tad lighter but still not white and the highlights of the facial creases are lighter as well. I find the trouser folds of both to be the same grey but the new undercoat of the new ones is more cream colored and hence more distinctive. In looking at my older Voltigeurs, I do find the yellow ocher and tan highlighting on their trouser folds so maybe that is a difference intended to reflect their difference in roles. Voltigeurs do play in the dirt more than fusiliers.:D I did not order a new NAP0036 or 37 but I can see no difference in girth between the old and new NAP0031 or 33. My old 36 and 37 look pretty much the same as your photos so again, maybe this is just a difference between the types of the figures.

All that said, when I mixed the new ones into my column of old ones, I had trouble finding them again so they certainly blend in nicely. The best way I found to distinguish them was the slight greater thickness of the new bayonets. Bottom line, I completely agree that these are a fine addition and indeed the usual FL best.:cool: I very much look forward to the next bunch which will include those voltigeurs.
