For the discussion of Confederate strategy here are 2 interesting titles. 1- "Attack or Die" by Grady McWhiney & Perry Jamieson done by Univ. of Alabama in 1982. This is a really thought provoking book that has many controversial arguments. It has meant with much criticism in historical circles but it is worth reading for it's ideas. 2- "Retreat to Victory? Confederate Strategy Reconsidered" by Robert Tanner done in 2001 by Scholarly Resources Inc. A very well done study that covers the aspects of geography, maneuver, slavery, independence, and the question of offense or defence as pertaining to strategy. Well worth your reading time. -- lancer
