I'm a big Animals fan and this is one of my favorites to play on my guitar, It's My Life. A very cool riff

In this forum, we will probably be singing "Don't let me be misunderstood"....

Thanks for the vids...Love the Shadows and Dwayne EDDY.... the Animals are'nt too bad.....like the Monkeys and the Seekers...not really into Blues or the slow monologue style of singing...there are so many fantastic groups and singers out there but my fav's is the music of the 40/50/60's...some of the 70's maybe.....classic and light classic so I have a lot to chose from.....have just upped my internet download to a heaps of gigs so I can now spend yonks of time on YOUTUBE...down loading music and live aircraft .. my daughter and nephew play the guitar , I tried but I am hopeless at it.....regards TomB

Tom, to resurrect the LPs, you probably need a record cleaner to take out all the gunk and fungus. But, the results and the sound can be intriguingly rich compared to MP3 sound today. {sm4}{sm4}

Thanks Chris.....the system I used to play the records on is now U/S after approx 35 yrs of use...was an old Philips set up with amp..speakers and player ...awsume sound.....I am on the lookout for a record player....Hey ,,Hey...they dont make stuff like they use too....Philips was one of the best on the market at the time...Grundig was the best....regards TomB

Lps provide the warmest sound and depending whether you want to start collecting them again, the Japanese have re-issued many Lps. I would be surprised if Francis Lps have not been re-issued.

If Lps are not your thing, the Japanese have also re-issued Lps in 24 bit format, which are very close to the Lp sound. Probably a third of my jazz collection (about 2,000) CDs are Japanese re-issues. There are also European re-issue houses like Fresh Sounds that just copy the Lp and re-issue it on Cd. Since the copyright laws are more liberal in Europe they can get away with it. In many cases, since what is being re-issued is of no interest to the original issuer, this may be the only way that the album will see the light of day.

Currently working on the broken chord pattern of House of the Rising Sun. The chords are the same but the way you strum it is why it's called a broken chord.

Do you mean something like p, I, m, a, m, I appergio finger style pattern?

No, if I understood what you mean. In the first chord, A Minor, you downpick the fifth through the first string and then up pick the first through the third string. In the downpick you play the fifth string but then it's a tumbling motion and then in the up pick, you play the three strings individually.

If you listen to the song, you can hear it. In this video you can almost see it.

Yes, I see it now. He is rolling down from 5th thru 1st like a down strum, and then pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Interesting, it is a faster roll. I used to just do the way I described. Anyway, you are right as I just goggle the tab... So, it is actually 7 notes per bar and not 6 as I thought... Thanks for the tip!:salute::

Chris,

Glad to be of help although I think you know more than me.

I'm a late starter so everything is a bit more difficult for me.

Hi Brad, not really, you guys are in America where there is so much roots music and everything seems grounded from there. Progress can be faster. In other words, you guys are more natural and when I visit guitar center, I feel quite embarassed seeing the talents that abound. I usually will instead buy a DVD from Homespun and learn from the videos. So far, my favorites from their teaching materials are the Jim Croce and Dan Folgelberg videos by Pete Huttlinger. But, I am glad to see we have another common interest. Right now, I did join a music ministry in church and I play the bass there, mostly Hillsong, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin materials. I guess with all the work and work travel pressures, tend to want to balance time to other pursuits as well.

Rgds,Chris
