Holding two of the original Conte figures in my hand now and comparing (the kneeling figure and the prone figure). Your highlights and shading, particularly on the kneeling character, are a distinct improvement compared to the factory work, which in itself, is not bad. Noticed the change in the color of the bandana of the prone figure, nice touch.

Some Conte figures, especially the releases that may have been sculpted by Richard Ortiz, are very nice. In the Roger Rangers Series, I am much happier with the earlier releases in the series than the later releases. The later releases seem to be true 54MM (or less) and smaller than some of the earlier releases, some the earlier releases easily approach or exceed 60MM. Painting quality is similar, but I am more fond of the paint selection in the earlier releases. Caucasian males are painted with a "tan" and not nearly a pink as in the later releases. I eventually learned to loathe that "porky pig" pink. Some sets are more matte (early) and others have a higher gloss factor (later).

I have probably a dozen or more Conte figures in both the Alamo and Roger Rangers Series that I would think would benefit from a repainting, even if were just the flesh areas.

But whoever did the sculpting and supervised the painting on the earlier figures (Roger Rangers) is very talented. I could easily be wrong, but it may be the artist for the 2nd Alamo Releases = 1st Roger Rangers Releases.

Thanks for your interesting comments, the Rogers Rangers series didn't seem to make it to our shores, I have never seen them. In fact many of the earlier Conte plastics are now rarely seen in abundance, I tend to pick up all the odds and ends that I find at model fairs and shows.
