I have 11 of these figures in the works. I used the Conte plastic CSA figure with the frame knapsack and round canteen. The original rifle was too weak and the right arm too long. I trimmed down the right arm a little. I wish I could get a good flintlock replacement musket, but the 1842 percussion rifle musket was available for some units and the TSSD replacement rifle is "close." :) As usual the blow-ups show that more trimming and smoothing needs to be done before painting.

Nice job Scott! Post the rest when you get them finished.
I just got some paint on a couple of AIP prussian landwhier figures I converted also today. I needed a couple of command figures for my Landwhier troops so I converted a couple. Some day I,ll finish painting them all.

Clever stuff this! What do you do with the left over parts from the figures you cut up?

Jeff

I made a flag bearer as you did. I have to try the Drummer! Looks like you used the AIP Napoleonic French Drummer for parts. I didn't think of doing the officer holding his cap. That AIP set has lots of uses. I use a few for US War of 1812 Militia and early war Confederate militia unpainted in gray. Brown would work too. Your painting looks great on those figures.

Jeff,

On this figure I tossed the rifle. Conte rifles in metal are OK but bend too easily in plastic. I keep the heads! The faces and hats/caps are usually right on and work on other figures. I have several bags of dismembered TDDS and Conte bodies. You can cut off cartridge boxes, canteens, scabbards etc for conversions, not to mention arms and heads.

Your right Scott, I snagged the drum and arms from the AIP french drummer.
I just did a quick paint job on these and I didn,t add the right markings on the drum yet.
The flag was given to me by Joe LT. I believe its historex? Its like a brittle hard model type plastic. The landwher only carried flags when they were first formed in 1813 and had various flags of all different kinds but were ordered to stop carring them.
My flag isn,t really an actual flag but has the feel and some of the trade marking of what landwher flags would have had at that time.
The arm on that figure I believe I cut from a MT. Waterloo prussian officer.
The other officer has a conte GI head I believe and I cut the cap off a AIP figure and made a 2 part putty hand to hold it.

Your conversion work is impressive and getting better all the time! Keep up the good work.
