Hi all,Have recently been on the Conte site tried viewing their d-day playsets ,but they dont have any pictures?
Anybody any idea what the seven issues are, what figures and diorama pieces were issued with each set ?
Some images would also help,i`m interested with the ones issued with british paras.I`ve also used various search engines but cant find a seller anywhere, seller must be able to ship to uk if posible?
One more question, never actually seen a conte playset closeup are they worth the asking price they sure look tempting.
regards steve

Steve,

I wouldn't hold out too much hope. The only set of the 7 that is presently available is no. 5, the Longest Day set with the large Bunker set up and (I believe) about 80 or so German figures.

If you look it up Conte on ebay, one of the sellers has got a photo of the bunker set up on the listing page ($200). When I queried postage to the UK, it was in the region of $75, + whatever customs / Parcelforce feel like adding.

You should be able to find photos of the Nomandy church on this forum (set 6) and maybe the Priory from set 7.

Conte are (according to their website) expecting new supplies of sets 6 and 7to be back in stock soon.

I think the definition of 'soon' might be open to a bit of interpretation.

I've dropped in on their site periodically for a couple of years now and have never seen any inkling that sets 1 or 2 (with the british paras) or sets 3 or 4are coming back in to stock. Nor have I seen a complete set (other than set 5) for sale on ebay.

You might want to check out Michigan Toy Soldiers. If you look in their new arrivals in the finished scenic or diorama pieces (I can't recall what it's called), they're selling a few of the diorama pieces off as singles, incl. the bridge, several bunkers, ruined walls and so on.

Steve, if you're in the UK, drop me a PM with your details and I'll get some photocopies of everything I've got on the sets to you. I would scan some in, but my scanner is doing weird things at the moment.

In the mean time, I'm hanging on for the release of that church.

Remember the poster with the kitten dangling from a tree branch and with the title of Hang in there baby? That cat, now long dead, has a better chance of comming back to life after using its tenth life than any of us have in getting any Conte playsets:rolleyes: , unless you are fortunate enough to spend a lot of money through private purchase or e-Bay.

Ken Olson, the designer, has mentioned, in this forum, that he does not believe the sets will be continued or reissued. I may be way off when I say that, but my memory is not failing too bad, yet, I think?:)

Hi There. I can tell you that there should be at least 50 of each set released sometime soon...when I have no idea, but I know that all of the building components were made, decorated and probably shipped to LV by now. I am going to guess that they will still need to package the parts at that location, but if you are lucky you may be able to get one of these. I also think that the British paras are still availible in seperate boxes. Hope this helps. Ken

Thanks for the info everybody,a question in regards of the scale of Conte are the figures 1/32 true 54mm or are they bigger?
Reason im asking is i want to match them with my favourite britsh para figures (Airfix).Recently got some remolds and they really stand the test of time well.
You may also like to know that Airfixs parent company HUMBROL has called in the receivers and possibly ceased trading and is up for sale:confused: This may also effect people getting hold of recasts beacuse Heller which has the molds and produces the items has also gone bust!
So anybody with a few dollars buy yourself a failing Kit and hobby paint comapny,go on treat yourself:) please

Steve,

There is a difference in size between Conte and Airfix figures, a little too much to get away with unless you're not too worried about scale differences. The Conte figures are 'chunkier' and bigger than airfix and don't look right together to me.

It sounds like you haven't got any of the Conte paras. Get some. You won't be dissappointed. I think these two sets are about the best there is in plastic at present and there are 16 poses - all action poses. You can easily double the amount of poses with some simple slicing and sticking. Well worth it.

Both www.harfields.com and Steve Weston Toys - www.plasticsoldiers.co.uk have supplies of the paras (and others) in stock at around £18 per set.

Shame to hear about Humbrol / Airfix. It would be nice to see the company develop rather than continuing to flog the same material produced 35 years ago. Luckily for us, I think they produced enough quantity to keep the second hand market alive for another 35 years.

I would be tempted by some of those molds though...

Nooooo, don't tell me about the kitten!!!!! It's alive and well and living on a big farm with lots of other happy cats!

The Church. It will be mine. It says so on the website. Oh yes, it will be mine.......

Someday. Maybe.:(

Conte website says that Omaha Beach Playsets one and two will be available at the OTSN show. Looks like the big wait is almost over.
Someone give us a report PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

The images on the Conte sire show lots of painted plastics. I wonder if the playset will have painted plastics included. That would be a first { Isnt' it?} for playsets.
Geez, I'm all atwitter.Funny how a 46 year old guy can get so excited over new toys!
As the date draws nearer to the show date, I feel like a kid missing the big party.

Dear Santa,

For Christmas this year, I'd like the Omaha sets 1 and 2.

I know in the Conte Blog page, they were talking about the release of painted plastic GIs in much the same form as the ACW figures. I thought they mentioned that the painted plastics would be included in playsets, but memory could be playing a cruel trick on me as I can't see it mentioned anywhere on the site now. Either way I wan't one. No, make that 2 sets.
