Steven Chong asked me to post pictures of some of the new stuff on display in the Conte room at OTSN. We have a "Bloody Omaha" display set up...and yes playsets 1 and 2 are available for sale here...the new Spartans, prototypes of 33 new Confederate Charge poses and prototypes from a Vikings raid set including a Norman ship, a Church, a siege tower, a battering ram and an Irish watch tower. As I have time I'll post some pictures here. I'll aso be posting on the webmaster's blog page of conteco.com. I'll try to answer questions, also, as they come up and as i have time in the midst of this OTSn nutsiness.

Here are some more pictures from the Conte Room in Chicago. The first two showcase some of the new rebs coming later this year. The other is part of the Paratrooper/SS diorama in the room featuring one of the new paratrooper-in-the-process-of-landing sets. More pictures to come. It was good meeting Carlos and Stephen.

The question before the house seems to be...what Conte products have actually been available for sale at this OTSN...not pre-order, but physically available to be purchased on the spot?

Terry in Iowa

Terry,
Bloody Omaha Playsets 1 and 2, 12 Spartan sets in metal, 3 new airborne sets, and one crusader are all available for sale.

Joe,

Is there any chance of posting photos of the three airborne sets on this forum? If not can you confirm whether the sets are:

1. 1 x US with 2 surrendering germans
2. 1 x US pulling in chute
3. 1 x US firing Thompson with chute still 'inflated:confused: '?

Cheers
Simon

I have just returned from attending the OTSN show this weekend. I have purchased many Conte' Metal and Plastic over the years. I see Conte getting dogged ( I agreed too many times ) frequently here on the Forum. I wanted to see what he had in his room. I had the chance to talk with him for about 30 minutes. Of all the manufacters I visited I found him to be very passionate about this hobby and it's collectors. I was really surprised about his interest in what I was collecting and what was in the horizon for this hobby and it's collectors. He appeared to take a genuine interest in my comments and suggestions.

He stated he is working as hard as possible to bring all these sets to market. I think I agree with him I really do not think there is another toy soldier manufacterer that has a plate any fuller than his. He plastic is in my opinion the finest on the planet. His metal while as not the same qulaity as KNC is solid. A good value. He did mention the HIGH cost of bringing Plastic to market. If you have not see the new GI's both painted metal and Plastic that are fantastic. Great dramatic poses that has become Conte's trademark.

He has many ideas in his head and I think that too is a weakness in a sense. He wants to do it all. I think that is were collectors has issues.

I got a better understanding Conte during my visits to his room. I am looking forward to seeing him at Chicago again. I have a great deal of respect fo ra man willing to spend major dollars into investing in his passion for history and toy soldiers.

Great Job Richard Conte. I am eagerly awaiting more.

I found Richard Conte very helpfull with answering questions and he personally sorted out 12 figures cards of his new wwll D-Day figures for me so that I got the right cards. The figures have to be the best I saw in plastic. No mold or seam lines. Will be fun to paint. He also had a good deal on the figure sets. I did buy metal Rev War stuff first but then changed my mind to get the plastic and they were accomadating and helpfull for me to exchange my metal purchases.I think they are trying hard to do the right products and get them out to collectors. The large sets are nice but I have no room now for them. Leadmen

The Conte style is interesting in that, in my opinion, they look as though they have been pulled directly from historical portraits. I think that is why I like the Conte Alamo and Civil War sets better than the more modern eras.
