I got my hands on a couple dozen Conte Prototype American WW2 in that cream color and went on a painting marathon.Did 24 of them over a few evenings of painting.
In my opinian the figures themselves are very nice. There were a few with bent weapons { as usual} but a hot/cold shock treatment took care of that .
Poses all seem very realistic. Of course theres a couple of the running guys my boy thinks are stupid but they look good to me.I really like the kneeling guy firing his BAR.
I enjoyed painting them anyway.Theres talk of an Omaha Beach playset coming soon in 2006 , either with painted plastic guys or just plain unpainted figures. We shall see!Since up until recently my American WW2 troops were limited to just Airborne for the most part.Have done a couple D-Day set ups, wargames with my boy but always had to use my British for Beach landings since thats all we had that was suitable. Also Conte claims they will have their WW2 Buildings available as seperate pieces for metal collectors. That'd be nice!

All in all the prototypes seem to me very nice.Maybe their regular production will improve and they will come in a color besides CREAM for guys that don't paint.
;)

Fubar, I bought 5 blister packs of the GI,s at OTSN, tho in the green color.
I painted them all a solid od color to match the TSSD Gi,s.
I,m afraid the first playset Conte comes out with will have the above GI,s. Will have to wait till the next one to get the Ortiz sculpted figures.
Glad Conte is returning to WW2, you can,t go wrong with that war.
Gary
