FYI: I just came across an eBay seller who has put up for auction Conte's "First at Manassas" parts one and two based on the Don Troiani painting. He says they are MIB and have never been displayed; he is asking $1,000 as a Buy It Now or alternatively as a Best Offer. Separately, he also has listed a part one set that he is asking $500 as a Buy It Now or alternatively as a Best Offer. I haven't followed recent eBay prices on Conte sets, but this does seem a little high to me. I have both parts one and two which, if I remember correctly, cost about $350 originally.

There is a guy on eBay UK that is currently selling some of the Conte Roman series for 3, 4 and even 5 times the price of what they originally cost. He holds on to Toy Soldiers until they are discontinued and then 'bang', on they go. This was all very well pre and for a very short while post 2008 when it seemed collectors would pay something akin to ransom money to own deleted items but those days wont return for the foreseeable future. At the end of the day, these items are worth what someone is willing to pay for them but those Conte Romans I mentioned have been on there a long, long time and this fellow won't budge on his prices either! You watch, someone will buy every single one tonight!

Interesting. What do you think the First at Manassas sets might realistically expect to sell for?
