With the prospect of a K&C Hessian line, I am trying to figure out whether it would be historically accurate to pit Continental Marines against Hessian troops. Did any such combat ever occur during the war?
Thanks.

Thanks. I already tried wikipedia, and I couldn't find anything, but I did learn a lot of other random stuff. I see an interesting link, click it, read the article, see another link, click on it....it never ends! The hours fly by! Wikipedia is dangerous.

I figured it out. Turns out marines actually did fight against Hessian Jagers in New Jersey (who also wore green). Since they took part in several battles with the rest of Washington's troops (including Trenton) I am going to assume that a display of Continental Marines vs Hessians would not be inaccurate.

From what I've read, Hessians took part in almost every major battle and most skirmishes, so I don't think it would be unreasonable to depict them fighting Continental Marines.

Hmmmm. I was under the impression that they were more of a footnote to the whole AWI experience. It doesn't matter for me though, I plan on buying some here soon anyway. They are too sharp to pass up.

I have not read that, but I do know that they were at a lot of the big ones, like Saratoga, Yorktown, Princeton, and, of course, Trenton. I just didn't know if they faced off against any Marines. But they did, or at least the Jagers did. It would make sense that the Marines fought fusiliers and grenadiers, too, for the reason you stated.

Yeah , that's what I thought too until I looked them up, never realized there was 30 thousand of them involved in the war.

Well, with you being a vampire and all, could it have been you?

That's an idea--Continental Marines fending off a blood-thirsty vampire-Hessian...Or is that too much like the Legend of Sleepy Hollow? The headless horseman was supposed to be a Hessian.

Hessians were stationed in New Jersey - so YES ! :D - You can use the Marines in a diorama fighting the Hessians, since they were attached to Washington's Troops in fighting in NJ !! :)

excellent! Now I just have to wait for the Hessians to be released...
