Corgi 1/50 Shermans (1 Viewer)

I may have brought this up before but can't remember so sorry if this is a repeat. Does anyone know why Corgi ceased making their 1/50 scale Sherman tanks a few years back?? Did it have to do with the bootleg copies of their 50th anniversary limited issue of 50 serial numbered gold plated Shermans? They had more than a couple of new Shermans listed as forthcoming and everything just stoppped.

The company was having financial problems and was bought out at least twice. The new owners dropped a lot of models (airplane, car & truck, tank) and they never really got going again.
