Has anyone heard if TGM is intending on producing a series based on Napoleon's coronation? I noticed this add in the latest Toy Soldier & Model Figure magazine.

Hi Brendan
I could be totally wrong and I'm sure TG will confirm one way or another, but I think the photo you have is of one of the magazine collectibles ranges, which has Napoleon in a dozen or so guises.

WOW,

nice looking figure, it will be interesting to see is its a 'one of' or part of a series ???

If he's going to make the whole coronation party, that could be huge, so maybe some of the main players, like Josephine, Murat and the Marshals would be good. but all in 'court dress' ???

Seems that it's modelled on a painting by François Gérard.

Especially if they produce all the characters on David's painting some of them who were not even there (like his mother, brother Joseph, etc.)

There are only a few makers who have gone down that road .... Mignot, and MHSP, and recently Alexanders Toy Soldiers, that I saw at the London Toy Soldier Show in June 2014

There are also many flats available, so more economical :)

On a second look it certainly does look more detailed and better painted than a De Agostini type of product, which I have now found on the internet and yes, you certainly see the difference !

Not something that will be on my wants list but I'm sure there are collectors of Napoleon who would. Though I'd rather see them continue with the Napoleonic range they already have done.

Steve,

I also prefer the "fighting" and "campaigning" figures. I would, however, be tempted to pick up this one piece, since Napoleon's coronation is an iconic moment of the era.

Brendan

P.S. When are the long-awaited Prussian Landwehr command sets due for release? My Silesians are wandering about the battlefield without any leadership! {sm2}{sm4}

Hi Brendan.

Nothing against Napoleon, but since Napoleon has a following especially in France understandably, should find buyers.
As for the Landwehr I've added Kronprinz Landwehr figures to Blucher's command !

Steve

The ad is also in Toy Soldier Collector #80 that arrived this morning :)

Based on TGM's post yesterday, we should expect the "official" announcement of this figure tomorrow. :salute:: Now as the Duke would say, "Give me night or give me Blucher!" I'd much rather have the Prussians than night. My Landwehr are an unruly lot.

Best keep them away from any Cantiniere you may have then. God knows what'll happen if they get at the Brandy !{sm4}
