I could not copy the information on this link to paste here, but those interested in punishment of British Soldiers during the FIW might find this interesting ---- starts around 0175 - through 0179 of Chapter 1.

The link states that the British Army Cat-o-Nine Tails was not the fearsome Cat-o-Nine Tails used by the Navy.

"There was 1 drummer at Gilbraltar in 1727 who received 25,000 lashes over the 14 years he had served at that station, and was "HEARTHY AND WELL AND IN NO WAY CONCERNED".
